rear end unsettled,
Hi All,
Has anyone else,noticed this? My 370Z roadster seems to get a little "unsettled" at the rear when pushing hard through a sweeping corner with some rough areas say mid corner[we have lots of those here in NZ!!],its as though the shocks are out of sorts with the suspension,no problem with the front it always feels well planted and give no cause for concern. My thoughts are that the rear shocks are not up to the job in those conditions,or the roadster is not as "stiff" in the rear as the coupe. Opinions welcome,cheers. |

The Z likes to bump steer and doesn't get power down well in rough corners with the OEM suspension setup. Just the way it is.

We've got a pretty awful set up in the rear on the Z. I haven't had a chance to play around with the suspension to figure out how to dial it out yet.

yep, it seems less unsettled with the swift springs than stock, but it's still there.

Are aftermarket shocks available?,because IMO the standard shocks feel not up to the job,Its as though they are to 'light',I don't mean in a 'hard' way just not enough substance in there action,if you see what I am trying to get at.
One of the worst things one can do is make the rear end too hard in relation to the front,I suppose one would call it better control without undue hardness in the ride. The sort of thing that Lotus are good at. Steve |

i agree that the stock dampers have a sporty yet comfy feel to them when pushed.
the first inch of travel is somewat stiff feel, then the rest is pretty soft with loads of travel.. while it is linear. it use to bother me as my G35C's dampers are set pretty stiff throughout to minimize bumpsteer, but ive gotten use to the Z's stock suspension. im going to leave it as-is. |
