Finished TEIN Monoflex with EDFC install
I put the coilovers in over my Christmas break and just now finished up the EDFC control (lots of delays etc....). Last week I got the car (with my track tires on) corner balanced and aligned for track/street driving. All I can say is.......... holy crap the car has been reborn. I highly recommend getting corner balanced and aligned after a coil over install. It is money well spent

Where did you install the EDFC?
|
To the left of the steering wheel and right of the fob holder. The face is about 5" above the top of the fob holder. The three wires are barely visible running down and then behind/under the dash but at least my leg does not hit it. Before I ran the wires I had it mounted a bit lower and would bump my shin on it….didn't like that.
|
I have the same setup to be installed this week. Looking at the wires, I am hoping to locate my box in the armrest hatch.

Okay. I'll shoot a few in some good day light and post.

As for the EDFC...seems $$$ for something I could adjust myself when I swap tires before a track session....I don't know. Let us know how well it works for you. Definitely want to see pics. What kind of alignment specs are you running? What rebound settings are you at currently? |

It's embarrassing that my setup was so off before the alignment and corner balance work was done. After installing the coilovers and lowering the car everything was pretty much out of whack, but after getting the work done the car feels great! My first track day is 4/21, so I'm definitely looking forward to the difference. Right now in the crazy rain soaked roads I'm running damping settings of 9 in the front and 6 in the back…... 0, 0 is zero damping. Come track day I'll have plenty of time to dial things in.
The Coilover install was done in early January so I did not run the bad setup on the track, thank goodness…... |
nice setup

Nikon do you have a front camber kit? curious because they adjusted it. also your camber is still not within factory spec. im not sure why its all green on the final adjustment print out.
|
No front camber kit although I believe there is some front camber adjustability with the coilovers. Thanks for the tip on "why is it green". I asked for a Track/DD setup so perhaps the settings are the compromise, but to my knowledge green is supposed to be "in spec".
Whatever the settings the car sure handles well now. |
Imho, EDFC is very worth it. I can take my car from comfy for my girlfriend to stiff enough that I can have fun in the corners with it. And if I want to use the tires I'm running now at the track (Ventus V12s) then I can drive right on and switch on the fly... pretty neat.

I've moved the location of the EDFC around due to knee/shin interference and pretty much have it out of the way now. Thursday is this years first HPDE so I'm looking forward to see how the system works!
|
I had my first HPDE of this season today. I must say the coilovers are a total win! It was really amazing how much better the car handles at speed and works through the corners.

I've not measured my option slot below the shifter but was curious if anyone thinks the EDFC could fit in there? :)
Seems like a convenient place like the Z32s have. |
Consider the wire runs too on places to install the EDFC. I'm not sure what area your talking about…..the place with the lid/cover aft of the shifter?
|
Yeah just in front of the cup holder. :)

Based on that image I bet you could cut the option area to be wide enough since that whole section is a replacement piece. :) I may do this if I go with TEIN+EDFC. I'll definitely post pics and a DIY if I go this route. |
|
Is that area open all the time?
|
Na. I pop open the center console, adjust to taste, close back down. Doesnt impinge on my space (I am a big guy) and is a little bit sleeper. Know where you are putting yours Dreamer?
|
Also thanks for taking the pic!
|
Mine will be mounted in the same spot.
I am a fan of hidden but useable, like my camp 2 is in the glove box giving me access if we need it but out if the way. |
When do yours go on? Are they in?

Bringing up an old thread, where did you guys run the wiring through the firewall to the forward shock motors? I'm going to be doing all the EDFC-related install work over the next few days and could use some pointers on where all the pathways are. Also, what wire did you tap for the controller? I was reading the Tein site and they were mentioning the need to have a power source that isn't being used that much, as too much of a voltage drop can lead to faults in the EDFC system. Any help is appreciated!

I drilled a hole through the firewall above the clutch pedal so that the driver's side wire run aligned with the shock tower…..beware the insulation; it loves to tangle with drill bits. I ran the passengers side (after passing through the hole) along another wire bundle or cable tied it to structure near the firewall to get to the passenger side. For the rear, I drilled though the lower gage/thickness portion of the shock towers. There is an alternative to run to the back middle access plug but supporting the wires seemed a bit difficult going that route. I had a friend run the power so do not have much information on that. Good luck! I'd be happy to meet and show you what I'm trying to describe…..give me a call. I was quoted about $1k for the installation so decided to work it on my own with a few qualified friends. |
Any comparison of these from actual owners vs KW V3's??
