Brake cooling ducts
So im in the middle of getting some brake cooling ducts together. They would utilize the stock "fang" block plate and then of course everything to hook up to cool your rotors. After looking at some initial pricing I have been trying to figure out ways to cut cost to you guys. One idea was to just supply the front duct and the rotor ducts and let you guys add your own hose. Basically I am asking you guys if you would prefer a cheaper kit like that, or one that cost a bit more but comes with everything needed?
|
I'd be interested in a hole kit or just the ducts. Just do both options? Will these ducts be based on other kits on the market or is it one of your own?
|
What are the ballpark costs for each option? If I spend X dollars on the 'no hose' kit and then spend Y on buying hoses, I might as well have spent X+Y on the complete kit. Not sure where the savings would really come into play...
I think I speak for everyone when I say the challenges are 1) finding the proper flanges to mount on the fangs and particularly the rotors/calipers and 2) routing the hoses. Buying hoses is the simple part. |
I guess I would want hose, and a mounting point in the wheel well, since I have a stillen bumper.
|
I can't see hoses adding a lot to the cost of a brake cooling kit.
|
Hose or no hose, doesn't matter too much to me. If no hose I would just order some from McMaster Carr.
|
I would be interested in either, but I think you'd sell more kits if it was "all-inclusive", since some people just like getting everything from one place.

A little 1/2" garden hose will go a long way. :roflpuke2:

once i get a few things actually made, and not just my sketches, I will throw up some pictures. Actually if am performance has pics of their brake set up on the site how I am cooling the rotors is very similar to that. It is how we did it on some other road race cars that I have been a part of in the past. |

Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

So the plan would still be to cut a hole through the wheel liner to run the hoses?

i would purchase a full kit including the hose

I assume the hardest thing is going to be the duct around the rotor area along with mount points. Do you have any pics off another car that you might be trying to use as a similar design?
