Nismo Spring/Shock Pricing

Okay guys, I need some advice. I am going with a suspension upgrade this month and after much thought have decided on the Nismo package (springs/shocks/bars) .

Now, the internet pricing on the swaybars range from $399 to $700 with comparable shipping rates.

The spring/shock package goes from $695 to $1000.

With one exception, these quotes are all from forum vendors (the exception also has a good reputation). So, can anybody give me a good reason not to go with the lowest price?

I believe S-Tune will have a coilover kit which I believe is aruond $1200, if this is correct, I would rather get that than springs/shocks.. May want to wait? It will also be covered under warranty.

To my knowledge the Nismo S-tune shock/spring package I plan to buy is the kit that lists for $1200.

I guess what I really wanted to know from my post is do you lose any parts (bushings, linkages etc.) going with the lowest price vendor. I was hoping somebody could share their experience.

If a deal seems too good to be true it probably is.

Really no reason not to go with the lowest price, as long as it's a reliable vendor.

I wouldn't worry about any missing parts, but instead about customer service in case anything goes awry.

BTW, how did you decide on the nismo shock/springs?

I'm curious how much those hollow swaybars actually save weight-wise...

You seem like you're set you on your choices, but I'd rather have a solid bar and some coilovers. A decent set of coilovers really isn't much more than the nismo spring/shock package.

Ordered the stuff from the lowest priced suppliers yesterday and so far no problems. They all called back to confirm the internet order. It will be shipped out next week.

My decision to go with the Nismo parts was based upon keeping the warranty, my only tracking the car 3-4 times a year and the fact that in my opinion, the engineers at Nissan have more research time with the 370Z than the aftermarket people so I won't need to do much tweaking with the package.

I had a similar thought, but, one thing that dissapoints me regarding Nismo springs is that it doesn't lower the height of the car enought. I believe they lower only about less than half of an inch, barely discernable.

If Nissan had made the Nismo springs much lower, I would have bought it without any hesitation...

where is the specs listed for the nismo lowering being about .5" just curious?

I believe the reason that it doesn't lower the car very much is because it doesn't require chamber, toe, caster adjustment. I still haven't been able to find info on how low the drop is though hopefully 3/4 inch like the last nismos.

Big surprise!

The $695 price on the strut/spring package is no longer valid (even though I was the first person to try to order it). I am now trying to lock in the $840 price from another vendor.

To the original sources credit, they offered me their cost plus 10%.

When I finally get the package installed, I will have the car's castor/camber ect. rechecked and reset to the factory specs (listed elseware on this forum). I feel it is just good practice any time a suspension is modified (even with just a little change in ride height).

Hopefully, this will be my final post on the suspension pricing issues. It seems that back in January Nissan originally published the wholesale price as the list price on the Nismo parts. I was lucky that both of my sources tried to honor the original price listed on their webpage. Looking back at the websites today, all the prices have been corrected to fix Nissan's errors.

I remain very (repeat VERY) happy with my vendors and still just little angry at Nissan

I'm sure the Nismo suspension will do you fine, but if you want warranty on your suspension parts, I believe that only applies when you get Nismo parts installed by the dealer.
