Ebay spacers question....

Hey guys, I know this topic will catch a whole load of flack because well...it's something purchased on ebay. However, I just don't see how spacers such as these can be terribly messed up and I am willing to throw some money away to test.

That said, I came across these recently:

HUBCENTRIC WHEEL SPACERS ADAPTERS 20MM 370Z 2009-2010 - eBay (item 150487131543 end time Nov-28-10 11:06:23 PST)

I have a few friends with s2000's that have purchased spacers from this vendor and they haven't had any issues as of yet. My only question is:

I know 20mm in the rear should just bolt on without a problem and all should be well, but what about the fronts? I read on here some people ran into an issue with the front studs being too long or something to that, but it was only mentioned on the sport wheels. I have base 18s, so I don't know if I will run into the same issues.

Any opinions on what I should do here?

You would risk your wheels falling off to save a few bucks? I wouldn't. Get some H&R or Project Kics and call it good. It's your life. (and anyone near you when you wreck)

Explain to me the difference between the two outside of the name please.

Well the H&R has the built in hub centric and the Project Kics it's an add on. Both are great spacers. Don't cheap out.

I meant between the spacers I listed and say, H&R.

Meaning, everyone is so quick to talk down about something listed on ebay that is reasonably priced. I understand the risks associated with it, but it's not exactly a complicated part that can cause some sort of catastrophic failure now is it? In other words, if this were some new company who charged more and not something listed on ebay people would be ALL over it.

I never had the mindset that more money = better quality and like I said, I have a few friends that have been running these exact spacers for quite some time without any issues.

So back to the original question regarding the front wheels....

Well I was faced with the same situation as you and I decided that my safety was not worth saving a tank of gas. Cheap aluminum spacers from China from a unknown company do not sit well with me when it comes to wheels being mounted on them! If a stud breaks off when you are doing 60, what then? Is it worth it? It's not like we are talking about a spoiler or air intake. Your wheels mount to these. Remember that wheel spacers alone are risky, let alone "ebay" ones. It's up to you man.

These are hubcentric also. I'm going to try them if the are the same alloy as H&K. They are cnc'ed and hubcentric.

You got a 30+ thousand dollar car. Why skimp out on parts, even if they are wheel spacers?

I have had both sets. I had ebay ones on my G and they had a slight vibration. I went with H&R on my Z and vibrations and great quality.

kics, eibach, and ichibas all work fine for me, but i prefer the eibachs the most because they are hubcentric from the getgo and light weight.

kics are great too and have never failed me but weigh considerably more.

ichiba's are pretty much you get wat you pay for. cosmetically ugly, nuts are of low quality, and overall heavy like the kics. but functional. the centering rings work on kic's as well.

if it was like a civic i would say ok but I agree with Patrick. Dont half a$$ cuz in the long run going to cost you double.

Entirely not worth the risk. For another $50 you have peace of mind and a quality product. I wouldn't be caught dead with those on my car unless I wanted to be found dead.

To try and give you an actual reason I'll say that the quality of the metal used really matters. A lesser metal is more likely to crack or warp due to the extreme heat cycles they are exposed to.

I agree to not disagree........Get a known brand that has been tested and quality controlled......Cheap weird named products are just that....CHEAP....ends up rusting and or discoloration and pitting.........Metal Alloy's on vehicles need to come from a reputable dealer...........
