Megan racing coilovers questions

The Megan coilovers are priced around $900, pretty cheap for new ones. Anyone know how it is overall? Quality, ride, etc... Thanks!

HATED1 11-14-2010 03:45 PM

hey bro , i haven't heard any bad things about the Megan coils for the 370z yet, but at $900 you should spend $50 more and get some BC BR coils, several member have them here as well as myself and like them quite a bit. hope this helps.

ChrisSlicks 11-14-2010 03:50 PM

I would recommend the BC over the Megan, the quality reputation is a bit better plus they offer things like custom spring rates and valving.

I bought the Megans and got ride of them because they sucked!! I've had multiple cars with coilovers and they by far were the worst product I've ever bought.
BC Racing customer service sucks!! I never got a call back from their national distribution office line.
Get KW or HKS or Tein coilovers.

Kevr6 tell us how you really feel. Lol

I know! My wife got sick riding with me on a 4 hour trip. That was the last straw! Have loved my H&R springs since then. Now looking at KWs. ;)

ChrisSlicks 11-14-2010 06:31 PM

I had no problem with BC support, although they were a little slow.

you get for what you pay for my friend. Sometimes you gotta spend more to get better parts. KW and HKS are the best out there for right now.
1. KW or HKS
2. Tein
3. BC or Stance
4.Ill stick to springs before Ill go megan racing.

Vendors sell the BR type for around the same price, PM them! Support the vendors if you can.

Junior370z 11-15-2010 09:56 PM

I'll do that!

cookies370z 11-15-2010 10:35 PM

Kevr6 I was wondering why you were not happy with the Megan coilovers. Was the ride to choppy and bumpy?? Thanks.

370zFORme!! 11-16-2010 12:15 AM

Ecs motorsports is a vendor here and they have the bcs for $925, look them up!

I had a buddy with Megan coilovers on his Srt4. It road horribly so he went back to springs. Think you made the right choice with the BCs. Can't beat them for the price.

Waaayyy to stiff! Non progressive springs which only work if the dampening is top notch. The dampening sucked, on or off with no in between. They were so stiff the rear bumper cover, muffler, etc would clank over bumps.
When I sold them I forewarned the buyer and I sold them cheap!! He didn't mind them though.

I run a set of megan's and got no problems, good drop, rides smooth and picked them up for 880 from Coops.

Epic thread revival haha :) I have had both BC ERs and BC BRs and not really amazed with either. Now looking at KWs possibly.

This! Thanks Chris ;)

For the price of the Megans, you guys can also be looking at Tanabe and some other options.

From what i understand Megan and BC racing are made by the same supplier, however BCR is a higher quality product. I had BC racing on my previous car and went to the track about 15 times with the, daily drove the car and they never failed.

BTW how do you adjust ride height on the BCR BR type on the rear? is it the same way ar in the front?

thanks

ChrisSlicks 08-24-2012 10:31 AM

BC stands for Bor-Chuann, the Taiwanese manufacturer of both BC Racing and Megan coilovers. Megan's is BC's low-end product sold under a different name, main difference is the construction of the upper mounts.

To adjust the rears you just twist the spring perch. It's even easier than the front since you don't have to disconnect the shock.
