Front Drop Only?
I really wana drop my nismo a little bit, but I am concerned with dropping the back since the cans on my FI exhaust sit so low. Can I drop the front without dropping the back? Im hesitant bc I think this might look ridiculous haha.
|
you answered your own question. not to mention throw off the handling.
ever seen the hot rods from the 40's and 50's..... |
There's nothing wrong with a healthy rake, but I think if you only did the front then yes, it'd look ridiculous. It'd be best just to keep it at stock ride height if you're worried about scraping the cans.
|
Actually I disagree, I think it would look good if you did a .5" drop. Infact, I believe that the Nismos sit HIGHER in the front over the Base model anyway! I think if you can somehow get about .5 to .7" of a drop on the fronts, it would look perfectly FINE. But how do you go about it without messing with the handling of the car? (mismatched springs front vs rear)
|
just get some tanabe springs and put the rear springs on the front and front springs on the back for the un-boat look. :D ;)
|
I agree with the 0.5" drop up front.
|
Hmmm... need to see this.
|
so this thread is now about how to lose the great handling of your nismo... ok then just cut the front spring!
|
Obviously I dont want to mess up the handling of my car but a drop would make it look that much better. Love this FI exhaust but hate that the cans sit so low!

Don't be a follower, be a trend setter...get a lift kit.:stirthepot: :roflpuke2:

Well the problem is, there is a height issue with some Nismos. The front wheel arch sits at or near 28". OP measure your wheel arch. My Z was at 27.5" and once I put on my Nismo shocks and springs it's at ~28". About a half inch increase. So I can see why you want a "Front Drop Only"
You could get some Springs with a "minor drop" and throw them on the fronts and see how it handles. You could also install the rears and then add a spring mount spacer to lift it back up to OEM height. Problem solved, and the rear is super easy to do. Even a caveman can do it. ;) |
You might want to check your exhaust install. I don't know why the F.I.'s would be low. Got any pics?
My Stillens stick out quite far, but not low, and it's never been an issue, and I have a 1" drop all round. I'd hit my exhaust joints before the tips anyway. |

I'm droped with eibachs springs with 19 rays, and have not scraped. The cans sit at around 4''

Must be nice living in SoCal where all the roads are smooth and lowered friendly.:stirthepot:

Ok so, i did a quick photoshop of what you are asking, to be honest, i think it would look amazing, get a thicker tire sidewall, or, say like 20 inch rim in back, 19 in front. Being as interested as i am with the Viper community(dodge viper not the snake lol) a common thing is a bigger wheel in back, one inch smaller in front(i.e. american muscle lol) but in all seriousness, i think it would look good.

When I lowered my Z, I lowered the front by 1/4 more, which brought the wheel well gaps to the same amount front and back, so a 1/2 inch difference would look good too. It'll give it a mild rake...aesthetically pleasing.

Trip - Im gona measure how low my cans are after work today but I think Im already sitting about 4 inches from the ground without a drop.

Or, you can buy an exhaust that fits properly and then drop the car evenly. :stirthepot:
