Tanabe nf210 spring kit
 

Hi all , I have a problem that i hope someone here can help me with...I've installed a set of Tanabe NF210 Touring springs on my 370..I have 19" nismo wheels stock shocks and Ebach control arms to line it up...The car bottoms out so bad its terrifiying, It sounds allmost like metal to metal sometimes...Is there anything i can do short of replaceing the spring with stiffer ones...Is this normal...do i have bad spring or what ? Any feedback on this matter would be greatly appreciate.....Thanks in advance

are you sure you got the right springs, Tanabe are so much better then Ebiach as had those on my G

I guess docaam...Tanable NF210 touring springs is what i ordered....This might be a dumb confused question but is it possible to have thim upside down or somthing?:confused:

anything is possible. I don't think it's the spring because the nfs aren't a super aggressive drop. Did you do the install yourself? The spring may not be seated in the perch properly. I have tanabe springs on 3 cars not and always recommend them to friends. Good price and great quality and great for daily driving. i was never a fan of tanabe springs. i had NF's on my other car and it was so under sprung i sold them within a few weeks of ownership and got coilovers.

yeah, their stuff is really known for being a little stiffer than stock. Gfs are the way to go if you want something noticeably stiffer. just depends on what you're looking for I guess

actually it's too soft for the amount of travel and what you're probably feeling is the bumpstops slamming.

and if you increase the rate too much, then you get too much undulations because the car's underdamped.

did you ever get this solved? you might want to try and take them off and re-install. maybe there was a problem with that Can't really see why you would bottom out the way you're describing unless something isn't right

Hey JollyGoodChap...I installed a set of Hotchkis sport sway bars...It stiffened it way up... It seems to have helped...It hasn't happen like that since....The stock sway bars are pretty lame....I contacted the Tanabe factory...all they wanted to know was if i installed them myself and if it tuck a bump for this to happen....well I told them my nissan dealer installed them and it took a bump but not a big one.... I haven't heard from them since....If I had I would have bought Tanabe sway bars and if i decide to change my springs I won't be buying tanabe...............

I dont know what Tanabe is thinking with their spring rates. They lower and then they durastically soften the rates.

Just called Eibach to find out what the spring rates are for the Nismo. And I'm not going to lie. The car looks good but Im going to pass on this.

The 370z is already well balanced out of the box I do not need it to induce understeer.
The stock Nismo rates are
F- 8.6 R- 9.3

The Eibach rates for the normal Z
F- 8.6 F- 9.5

The Eibach Nismo Rates are
F- 9.8kg R- 9.5 which is a 14% increase in the front and 2% increase in the rear.

I dont see why they would set this car up like this. They completely switched up the spring rate bias from front to rear. And a front heavy spring like that will not only induce understeer, but the valving range of the shock is also slightly altered, the rear rates being extremely close to stock, and then the front rates are more sprung. Even though it is within the valving range of the shocks, if Nismo really did a good job fine tuning their shocks then these springs will throw off the original feel Nismo was going for.

Tein s-tech -
F- 8.5 R- 9.4

Tanabe NF
F- 5.9 R- 6.8

Tanabe GF
F- 8.8 R- 9.1

Swift Spec R
F- 10 R-10.5

So just about every spring manufacturer out there pretty much decreases the rates of our nismo which pretty much completely dtunes our upgraded shocks.

Eibach although stiffer, went in a weird direction with their spring rates, and will alter the handling characteristics of the Z

Swift is the only one by numbers is a performance option for our Nismo shocks.

these are all converted to kg/mm if you guys want me to post it up in pounds per inch I can do that later.

Oh btw

Stock spring rates for the Z is 419lbs (7.5kg) in the front and 452lbs (8kg) in the rear.

There springs are generally geared more for comfort but they do have the GF210 which has 8.8 / 9.1 spring rates. I had nf210s on my 350z and was happy with them but still stock on the 370. I think I might get GFs for this one. We'll see

Did you install the eibach arms at the same time as the springs? Maybe it could be the arms hitting on something. I'd check those to see if there's any type of damage on them.
