I got a deep discount from dealer for being a club member in Z Owners of Northern California (ZONC). After my 25% discount they ran $599 out the door, tax included for a set of 4 shocks. Koni's run about $750 from Kamispeed, a difference of $150....so why not just spring the extra $$ and go for Koni's.... See below comment. Quote:
1) Price 2) Already proven to be stellar with OEM/Swift shock combo 3) Harness DD ride of Konis (personal preference). Now the break down: I already had Koni setup on my previous 350Z paired with H&R springs and for me I was not happy with the handling/performance. Harsh ride and jumpy thru the twisties, possibly a wrong pairing, but even DD comfort was undesirable. Swift and OEM shocks have proven by all on this thread of greatness in handling and performance. No one can understand how Swift can have such a comfortable ride yet grip in during hard cornering, call it Swift -ness in technology and R&D. The Nissan euro-tuned found on the 2013 sport 370Z has been revalved and tuned for European roads, meaning a stiffer shock. Now pair this with Swift which only perform better as the shock is stiffer. Hopefully not as stiff as Koni's for my personal taste. We will see tomorrow once they are installed on two 370Z's with identical setup's and mods. As for price, yes a few more $$ and I could have Koni's, but as mentioned above I am looking for a different setup than Swift/Koni. So price was not a concern, except with the current economic strain on my wallet, it was an easy decision which setup to go with. Swift / Euro-tuned combo. will tell tomorrow how they work out. Has anyone ran into an issue trying to remove the 19mm lower control arm bolt? I had no issue on the driver side but the passenger side will not release. I have soaked it in PB Blaster and I am using a breaker bar. The bolt is taking serious damage and probably going to replace it with a new shiny one once removed. I am almost to the point I am going to just cut it or break it to get it off. Thought I would see if there is something I am missing or not trying first.

If a good foot on a 19 mm wrench does not break it loose, then you are pretty much into thrashing mode. Last edited by ZForce; 09-10-2012 at 03:32 PM. Reason: added last line |

I say that you do need camber arms -- at least the rears -- when you drop the Z on Swifts. Some people are able to get the camber angle in spec without replacing the arms, but most need them.

Thank you for making that correction....for a while it made me think what the hell is a camper? I thought hmmm..is he gonna install the springs in the woods?
I do have camber kits on the rear SPC. None in front so far made it inside the specs. |

Same here --- SPC in the rear and stock in the front. My car aligns perfectly on spec.

Well I was finally able to get that passenger side control arm bolt off. My 350 ft lb impact wrench was doing nothing and my neighbor came over with a 900 ft lb air impact wrench and after hitting it a few times with that it broke free. Finished everything up a week ago today at midnight. Got an alignment done Sunday. So haven't gotten to do any extensive driving but feels smooth as before no harshness. Next up for suspension will be sway bars. I didn't get before pics and then realized I didn't have any before side pics. My apologies. Enough jibba jabba here are the pics.
Before After

Hi guys,
I know this is not a very smart question but I hope u guys can help me to open my knowledge. As I have been reading, Some says that they use the combo of KONI & Swift. Does that mean that Koni coilover + swift spring on top? Is that ok if we use Stance coilver + Swift spring on top? is that also mean that we took the spring on the Coilover out and put the Swift spring on? |
