Brake Dust.... EVERYWHERE!

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to see if you guys have the same issue or maybe its more of a Nismo issue since it has the slits in the rear bumper. Anyway, everytime I drive it, i just seem to get sooo much brake dust on the back of it. Could also be because its white but really, ive never seen so much from a car ever. Just wanted to see if others had this issue as well...

kenchan 10-12-2010 03:42 PM

you sure it's brake dust and not carbon deposits from the exhaust?

6spd 10-12-2010 04:22 PM

these brakes do make a bit of bust, but then again, they aren't your grandmas corollas brakes.

kenchan 10-12-2010 04:50 PM

hummm... my endless pads dust quite a bit on my G but i dont get it on the rear bumper...

Chan Chee Hoe 10-12-2010 06:39 PM

I am sure those are not brake dusts, those are dusts of the roads.!

Waiz 10-12-2010 06:48 PM

its possible I suppose, but i do notice more of it on the slots on the rear bumper, assumed it was brake dust.

6spd 10-13-2010 08:10 AM

pics? chances are its road dust, mine is black.

sig11 10-13-2010 10:26 AM

I get brake dust from my carbotechs on the rear bumper at times too.

To be honest im not sure. Everything is stock so if it comes with Nismo brake pads, then thats what i have. I washed it yesterday, and its definately brake dust and seems to just be pouring out of the slits in the back bumper.

Ty Weezy 10-14-2010 09:08 AM

hmm weird, I dont have this problem with my nismo

fuct 10-14-2010 10:45 AM

not every nismo came with the pads, it was an option. look at your window sticker. they are better pads, just makes alot of mess.

Ok I will take a look when i get home.

Dembflyr 10-15-2010 10:52 AM

Just a thought but maybe you have a caliper that is sticking. That would create more brake dust then normal.

I looked on the sticker. Just says Nissan Sport Brakes... Seems to be a bit better with the cold weather here in CT but still...

Joseph B 11-02-2010 03:15 PM

I get the same thing, I would say it's normal. Looks black on my white nismo too. Just dust/road grime gathering from turbulence. and by the way, I have the stock nismo pads too and they do have brake dust, just like any other pads.

fuct 11-02-2010 03:52 PM

take off the cats and see how much crap accumulates on your rear bumper!

Nismo221 11-02-2010 04:06 PM

With my Nismo I get alot of brake dust all over the rims but not any on the rear bumper. Id say its dirt and dust from the road

Nizmolife 06-01-2011 07:21 PM

Iknow what you mean! It drives me crazy. I have the same issue. I have a 2010 PW 370z nismo. I could wash and wax it all day, drive it for 10 minutes and only my rear bumper gets dirty. I know its not the road debris because I have driven it on clean streets and its not dust. It looks to be black soot/carbon from the exhaust. At first I thought it was my rear tires wearing quickly (they are at the wear bar already) but I ruled out the tires. I don't think there is a fix for this so I guess I have to live with it. Just out of curiousity what shape are your rear tires in?

sig11 06-01-2011 07:28 PM

You should have seen my car at ZdayZ. It was a completely color red from all the dust my carbotechs dump out. :)

Rochester, eh? You should check out Great Lakes Z Club | News and events for the Great Lakes Z car club We've got a fun/diverse bunch up here.

no brake dust issue whatsoever here! if the dust gets to be a real problem, you can always go with the Hawk Ceramic Brake pads (I've been told by Mike the Powdercoater that they don't produce as much dust)

eurroo 06-01-2011 11:16 PM

more dust more stopping power

Went to the last Z meet at Kensington park (may 30th). I got there pretty late but met a few peeps. I'm looking forward to more meets. Whats coming around the corner?

Keep an eye on the thread here or the club website. We just finalized a date (6/25) for our Street Legal Customs meet/BBQ. :)
