Sport pkg Brake's Lifespan
To those who have had the Sports PKG brakes and have replaced them, at what mileage did you do it at? (I'm looking to get a consensus the avg that they will last.
I'm a spirited driver and don't have access to be able to just pop the wheel off and see what i have left so thank you for your answers in advance. p.s. what did you replace them with? |

Well this isn't exactly what you're looking for but I have almost 12k on mine and the pads are still about 50%+
I do a lot of pause and go, about 20 miles or more a day. I accelerate quick and stop fast too if it helps

I have 11 000 miles on my car (18 000km) and my front pads are gone... I have to mention that I did a couple of track days!
To my surprise the rear pads are still at 70 pourcent. I am still debating to go with Hawk HPS or Carbonteks pads...

Stock Akebono pad wear is pretty good. I replaced mine around 16k and still had 70+ percent pad life.
Philipp, I ran HPS for a while and thought they were crap.

Get Carbotech's for the track, use stock or stock equivalent for the street. I'm with Steve, the HPS pads suck.

The Carbotech's don't need a lot of bedding, see here for a guide.

Given the track pads are abrasive when cold, I've seen recommendations that driving on the street for a week or two will allow them to remove their own pad material from the rotor. Then you can swap your street pads back in and bed them simply with some quick successive stops from 60mph-20mph. Going from street to track, I just pop the track pads in, drive a couple days to remove the street pad material from the rotor, and then bed the track pads when I get to the event.

i dont know if it is placibo effect. i have always complainted about the lack of bite from the stock pads. i used to xp10 for the track, which bit too hard for my re11s. i recently switched back to the stock pads, for some reason the pads seem to bite a lot harder.
hps pads are garbage, dont waste your time |

You're right, but I'm pretty sure that's just for a nice, smooth operation. A lot of people don't like a touchy brake feel with a lot of initial bite on the street.
