Cutting Nismo S-Tune springs?
OK I know this is not a great idea, but I was wondering about this today. The reason is that this setup did not drop .4" as expected but infact raised my car .5" ! Coupled with the fact these are VERY stiff, I was thinking about just cutting a coil and seeing if I can get a .5 to 1" drop out of them! (making them like OEM or .5" lower. LOL)
Thoughts? edit: Plan on getting Swift Spec R's later on but thought I can experiment in the meantime! But not sure this will work anyhow as the springs dont have as many coils...

I wouldn't do it. You know how you are with tools, haha. Just wait for your new springs.

don't cut your springs. Keep them as is. Sell them for like 50 bucks after you get the new ones. have you thought about getting a set of coilovers? you can get BC Racing BR type for about 1000 dollars. Since you have to pay for the install/allignment, might as well not have to replce your dampers in 15-20k

I sold these spring/shocks to tjlazer. When installed on my car, it did not raise it. My car was at exact spec ride height according to the FSM, but that is for a non-nismo, not nismo spec height, which I think is supposed to be slightly lower.

I think we're talking stock NISMO edition springs, not NISMO S-tune aftermarket springs + shocks.

Yeah I am not alone, there are a few that claim these raised the fronts a bit. Mine was .5" increase in height. I was 27.5" on stock and 28" now....... I don't scrape pulling out of my rolling curb driveway anymore! :P

I am pretty sure they are both the same, just that the S-Tune aftermarket kit comes with pretty stickers....

just curious? how much did you spend on those springs, and how much are the spec r springs? and the allignments that you should be getting after all these ride height changes. then how much are the new shocks you are going to need in like 20k? And how much are all these installs costing you?
my point is, seems like you're spending way more trying to get springs to work for you. why not just cut your losses and get some coilovers. |

Yeah I know but at this point I am just going to get some Spec R's and call it good for now. Tired of messing around. My main hesitation with Coiliovers are the rear adjusting, it's not easily accessible to adjust. I guess Megan has some that you can do from the wheel well? I might look into those later on...
