Default DDMotorsports: Sneak Preview - BC Racing ER Coilovers Installed!!!

DoubleDownMotorsports.com has been working with BC Racing Suspension to develop and test 370Z specific coilovers! Well, it has been hard keeping it quiet for this long, but Pete from BC Racing flew out from Florida to Las Vegas yesterday to personally install and check fitment on the first set of prototype 370Z spec BC Racing ER Type coilovers on our project 370Z!

BC Racing will be making two types of coilovers for the 370Z. The BR Type, which is their main, flagship coilover will feature 30 way adjustable dampening/rebound and ride height adjustment. The second type, which we have on our car is their top of the line, brand new ER Type coilover. The ER Type will also feature ride height adjustment separate from spring pre-load, an external reservoir for added cooling benefits and performance, and independently 30-way adjustable compression and rebound! The off the shelf BR series will be geared towards the daily driver who may occasionally want to take their Z to the track while the off the shelf ER series will be geared towards the track junkie who still wants streetability. Of course, custom springs rates and valving are also available for each for those who really know what they want.

ER Type Street Driving Impressions:

I LOVE THESE COILOVERS! These are perfect for the direction I am trying to go with my 370Z. Initially since they are geared more towards track performance with stiffer spring rates and dampening than the BR series, I thought they might be a little harsh for everyday driving. I don't think so at all for my taste. I am sure if you are looking for 100% luxury/comfort you will probably think they are a bit stiff, but for the driver who appreciates performance they are more than tollerable for everyday driving. I had my compression/rebound settings set at a tad under 2/3 stiff as well, so going full soft I think would be even more comfortable for those who want it.

Its hard to tell a coilover's true performance capabilities on city streets (especially the exceptionally greasy/dusty ones we have in Vegas), but I can tell you that they are a VAST improvement over stock. The car is much flatter through turns at any speed, and the car feels very confident on big sweeping freeway on-ramps at 110mph (allegedly ). There is much less dive under braking as well. I cannot wait to test these on the track!

Now, onto some quick pics. I am going to raise the rear up a tad more adjust the rear camber, and do better photoshoot soon.

And the money shot...

All in all, the test fitment and test drive was a complete success and they have now been given the go ahead to start production on the 370Z specific coilovers!

The ER series coilovers will be custom orders only and will take 2-3 weeks and can be ordered right away through DDMotorsports!

The BR series will be a production item and should be in stock in about 30 days! DDMotorsports is taking pre-orders now!

No, thats fine. Whatever the problem was on the G37, they have apparently fixed it for the 370Z.

I have had BC BR type on my Evo for a few years with no issues and its only been a day on the 370Z, but so far so good. Whatever it was might have been G37 specific. I will ask Pete from BC Racing about it next time I talk to him and hear his thoughts. But from personal experience (which is really the only stuff that should count these days) I have had no issues. I have talked to a lot of other people who have had them and loved them as well, but have never met anyone with a G37 who has had them.

Thanks, not sure. I will have to measure. I raised the rear another 1/2" yesterday. I will take ground to fender measurements today now that its at the height I want it.
