Brake Cleaner, paint concerns
I've been swapping back and forth between my track and street pads all summer. I haven't done much in the way of cleaning the calipers during the swaps.
What do you guys use to clean the inside of the calipers? I've looked at the CRC brake cleaner products but they all warn against overspray on paint and rubber parts. Is it safe to spray those products inside the caliper (space left once the pads are removed) or should I just do the old soap and water technique? |
just soap and water is best. I just rinse down in there when washing the car and don't worry about it that much, but then again, my calipers are satin black because they require no upkeep.

ive been using brake clean on calipers/rotors for years...never any issues.

don't let it soak in or it will eat through paint with ease. Its fine to clean brake parts and everything like that... For normal pad changes I use the green canned stuff from autozone. I also use it to clean off the weapons we have painted sometimes to strip off paint from when they are used in the field. Works really quick so dont' getany on the vehicle
