A bit of a newbie question..

Hey everyone, I just ordered some wheels for my car, and I wanted to change the brakes. I have a base z, and i'm just sick of the silver calipers. I was curious what my options are as far as changing them. I'm not too concerned with performance, I'm not tracking the car or anything, but just for the looks side of it. How much money will I have to fork out for this??
Thanks for the help!

you could rattle can them with some high temp paint?..$3.79 @ kragen..haha

High temp paint will start peeling after a year. I would just leave it alone or try caliper paint. If you want the brakes to look better, put slotted or cross drilled rotors on. Prepare to spend at least $ 3k if you want authentic sport brakes.

A brand new set of OEM rotors, pads, sport Akebono calipers and all hardware will cost 1600 plus shipping.

Sorry, I was thinking of BBK like AP racing. Where can you find the Akibonos for 1600? Is that for all corners?

nogoodname 07-09-2010 07:39 PM

Yup, all four corners and from CZP.

For 3700 around, you could get Alliance 8/6 piston calipers and 15/14 inch rotors from Blackline MS.

He could try a Import Wrecking Yard, and buy the complete sets at a discount? if price is an issue

1600 with all the hardware is pretty good deal. Dont bother with junkyards trying to find every single part.

In all seriousness, your brakes are something that u do NOT want to compromise with an inferior product..at the very least find a set of akebonos..I really would not fool around with the cheaper BBK's out there just to get the "cool" look...don't do it man.

If you want to see a set of Alliance BBK, Custom powdercoated Akebono's or just regular brakes. Go to a meet...lol... there's one like every week in Laval or at the Orange Julep.
