I made a post HERE about the Ferodo pads available for Akebono. They are not the same as what comes loaded in the Brembo kit but it's another option for those who may be interested.

im really thinking about getting those project mu pistons, endless lines, and mocking up some titanium brakes shims...

What do you guys think about this setup??

SE 05-18-2010 01:51 PM

I would actually suggest investing in good pads, lines, and fluid first. There's no sense in buying all of the other parts and finding out you still need pads, lines, and fluid. Most drivers (doing occassional track events) will need only basic brake upgrades.

The parts you mentioned aren't really necessary and aren't a good starting point. You won't feel a noticable difference (from everything other than the brake lines), and they're pretty pricey items to start out with. Get some pads and fluid at the very minimum.

oh i should of clarified..yes pads and fluid are a given..these are in addition to those..people on track have been complaining of brake fade due to heatup and i figured the upgraded pistons and titanium shims would help alleviate some of this issue:tup:

Oh ok. I still wouldn't upgrade with those items unless I knew that was the root cause of braking issues. Since it's a documented overheating issue, the cheapest and most effective route would be to invest in brake ducting. Most casual track drivers would barely feel the effects. If you wanted to be on the safe side though, pads/rotors/fluid/lines/ducting should be fine.

I've seen more documented issues with the ABS system on dedicated track cars then anything else.

Can you sell Goodrich SS rear lines only for Akebono?

PM please..

SE 05-18-2010 04:20 PM

I'm not actually a vendor on here and I'm not selling parts. This was just a resource guide of parts for those looking for brake upgrades.

Don't forget Carbotech brake pads. Feel free to PM me or give me a call if you need some clarification between the various pad choices they offer. I have some pictures for you to use as well.

I agree. I think I am the first member on this forum to custom install brake ducting. I am not trying to steal anyone's thunder, please correct me if I am wrong.

And I can confirm that I did not experience ice mode on the track after installing the ducts. However, I also upgraded to CarboTech pads and Castrol SRF fluid.

I'll try to get around to posting a DIY thread with pictures this weekend. Installation requires brake tubing and zip ties. And a dremel tool for cutting.

resipsa are you planning on taking it from the fang vents or undertray?
