Question + Toe Bolt Question +

So i had previously posted a thread i didn't follow up w/about me having issues with my "handling" after getting my coils/spacer/camber arms installed. Found out my toe bolts that came w/the spc kit where not installed and have read on the G37 forum that without them, toe is hard to adjust. I called the shop that did the install (great guy, R & N Garage) and explained my situation....they said my issue dealt w/the alignment i got.

Now to what my question really is. I've been looking for diy but the 370 forum seems to be slacking except for DDMotorsports diy w/the SPL kit. I'm confused on the toe bolt. On the 350's and G37 they dremeled the slot where the toe bolt actually goes, but the diy on this site ( http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...s-install.html ) does not mention anything about dremeling. For those of you that have done the spc kit, did you have to dremel??? If so i come to my 2nd question, which one is the toe bolt kit, again because all 3 forums show me different bolts. Here is a pic to help show what i am stumped on. Is the toe bolt the one circled in blue or red?

I just got an alignment a week ago and my rear toes are somewhere in the middle of the oem toe setting. This was with a full tank of gas and I believe they added my weight to the car. I have no toe bolt because from my understanding from the 350z days you only need a toe kit if you're slammed.

Take a look at your alignment printout and if toe is out of spec then add the toe kit.

If you want to add the toe kit I believe you dremel the red area.

you mention only when you are slammed? my gap between tire/fender is a tight pinkie finger gap.....would you say that is slammed?

I wouldn't say that's slammed. You should make your decision on if your toe Is in spec, assuming they gave you a printout.

i failed at getting the spec sheet that day. i'm trying to get a hold of them to see if they have it on record.

i'm just going to go ahead and install it....eventually when i get wheels i will go lower.

Hey,

I just had my rear camber kit installed along with toe bolt on my G37coupe. They did not dremel and the alignment shop had no problem getting my toe back within stock spec (~.0) Granted i am pretty slammed as well. You should not have a problem!

What were your issues with? Getting your alignment back into spec?

Red is for Toe and you should get the spec sheet from your alignment. Its too difficult to determind w/o knowing how much of a drop from stock to advise if you need the Toe bolt installed or not.

I know that 1.0'' drop will NOT require the Toe bolt and you will be able to adjust with the stock Toe bolt to keep within OEM spec.

I have heard of peeps installing the Toe bolt that comes with the SPC Rear Camber Kit and NOT hogging out the hole. But again it all depends on how much you are dropped and the readings from your alignment print out sheet.

As far as what benefits are gained from installing the SPC Toe bolt on a 1.0" drop when you really only need to keep the stock Toe bolt in....I really do not know. Funny thing is, my installer said this same thing just this afternoon, I will let you know after this Sat when I get a lot of my suspension mods installed. weeee!

well guys i'd like to give an update. went to the alignment shop today and told them my situation. right before they took it into the garage bay they told me "you running on slicks!?" i laughed and said i wish....the guy says, "no i'm telling you." turns out my rear tires where completely bald ...hence why so much wobbling in the rain

purchased some new tires and everything seems to be back to normal. i don't know if its my head or not but i insist i still felt some small wobbles....gonna go back sometime this week and get my alignment inspected

going to bump this thread back up. i have my alignment specs.

Rear totals:

Cross camber: 0.3
Total toe: 1.84 (specified range: 0.16-0.43

Individual Rear:

Left camber: -1.3 (specified range: -2.2 - 1.2)
Left toe: 1.32 (specified range: 0.08-0.21)
Right camber: -1.6 (specified range: -2.2 - 1.2)
Right toe: 0.53 (specified range: 0.08-0.21)


My toe numbers are wack!!!! Alignment shop mentioned how they maxed out the toe.....looks like i need to add that toe bolt now for sure and hope this is the main problem. Any feedback from suspension/alignment savvy people because i'm new to having a car this low.

Our toe/camber system work hand in hand. You CAN get down to nearly zero toe or actually zero it out, but you will need to run about 2 degrees of camber to get there without the bolts. When you get under the car, you can see that the location of the camber arm is not in line with the center line of the axle, so when you lengthen that rod to decrease your camber (more negative), you are actually pulling a little toe out of your alignment as well.

It's hard to describe, but take a quarter and hold it perpendicular to a table. Push on the bottom center of the quarter and you will just get "camber" adjustment. But when you push on the bottom left or right, you will see the quarter turns as well as cambers, thats what we have.

edit: btw, I'm running -1.8 degrees of camber and maxed out my toe settings and I'm running .08 toe in both sides.

I'm on the stock bolt for now...I plan on putting the SPC in next time I need tires/alignment so I can get it down to zero toe.

i need to check my alignment numbers again, but i have a mild drop. are toe bolts necessary? or can i just get away with the rear arms?
