For those of you that have lowered your car far enough to have the fender lining scrape on the tire and have cut that bump out. Does this cause any

Default For those that are lowered..

For those of you that have lowered your car far enough to have the fender lining scrape on the tire and have cut that bump out. Does this cause any future hazards such as getting dirt/water/etc.. up in/on the fender and rust ? I would like to lower my car but the thought of having that bump removed worries me for the long run. Thanks in advance !

You might get more dirt in the engine bay/fenders but as far as rusting all of the Nissan genuine components are guaranteed against rust. It shouldn't be that big of a deal anyways since you mentioned only cutting a small section out and leaving the majority of it intact.

How low did you go anyways? Are you on stock wheels and tires? I'm running super low on a Nismo (about 2+ inches lower than stock) and I haven't touched my fender liner. I am running a few clicks from full stiff on dampening though.

I already had that taken care of. I rolled the front fenders flat, cut a portion of my fender liner, and relocated the bumper tab.

Weeee; I don't have to go too low before it will start to rub on that fender liner knuckle or w/e it is. I don't have a super stiff suspension but it will be going stiffer in the future. Maybe for some reason the Nismo doesn't have the stupid bump, check it out !

Well when my friend and I were going to roll the fender, I forgot that the front had that one nut that sticks out (it prevents people from rotating their wheels and accidentally putting their rear wheels in the front? or something stupid like that). With that being said, the fender roller couldn't fit onto the hub. We ended up using a Eastwood Fender Finisher tool.

He just clamped the fender flat basically instead of rolling it flat. We used a heat gun too to make sure the paint was soft enough to bend and such. From looking at it, you can't even tell my fenders are rolled as I did not bother doing a slight pull (I've done this with all my previous cars). The fender liner can be cut with an box cutter style exacto knife. It slices like butter. The fender tab, on the other hand, is a hefty guy. It took a few passes at it to cut it off. We relocated that mounting point to the position above it. Hopefully that helped?

I noticed my tires rubbed against the Fender tab, I thought my lip scrapped the ground.

So you cut the metal tabs off then welded it farther in the wheel well?

The tab that we cut off was part of the bumper I think. It was a really thick piece of plastic painted PW, so it was where the bumper connected to the fender.

Time to raise this thread from the dead. I have the same problem and would like to know if anyone has any kind of solution to hitting the fender liner protrusion at the bumper/fender meeting point.

wow, I was lowered super low and never had the tire touch the liner. The tiny front flaps in front of my front tires had less than 1" ground clearance before they shredded up, but I still never touched the wheel liner, even with 15mm spacers. I used to scrape just going down an uneven road. I just raised the car 1/2" though.

on 19"? im dropped 1.5" no prob with my 19" stock rays but my new 20" Rrrrr Rrrrrr on almost every corner
