Bushes and control arms ...

Hi everyone, I am ordering SPL front control arm, and I have SPL endlinks for the Hotchkiss swaybar.

I tried to find a topic before starting this thread, but I couldn't find any relative one.

My question is, what front bushes do I still need to replace, because my mechanic said it is better to replace your front bushes.

And what brand do I need to get.

Also, as a preventive maintenance for rear bushes, I will have SPL arms as well. What extra bushes do I need to replace as well?

Or by replacing arms (front and rear), I dont need bushes anymore??

Kindly note that I already have the differential bushes already, and I will install them soon.

Thanks,
Nas

Look for SPL Spherical bearings for the lower control arms. The FUCA's (Front Upper Control Arms) from SPL have everything you need. No bushing to replace.

Thank you, that means by replacing the upper control arms, there is no need for bushing to be replaced.

The upper arms. Unbolt the old arms and bolt in the new arms. No bushings to remove. Write up here.

I don't know how much work you do on your car but you really should get under there and look at all the suspension when you have a chance

the suspension arms SPL makes include spherical bushings that replace the rubber bushings at all the attachment points. Thats part of the reason for getting them

There are also bushings in places where there is no replacement arm. For those spots, SPL also makes a spherical bushing replacement but those require the old bushing pressed out

Lastly, there are bushings on your steering rack (IIRC, only Parts Shop Max makes a metal upgrade) and subframe (urethane and metal upgrades available by a variety of places)

If your car has relatively low mileage, there is no point in replacing specific bushings or subframe beyond the arm, as your stock bushings should still be fine. If you eventually commit to doing more track car things, there is value in replacing more bushings both to replace worn out parts AND to get the benefits of less flex, more feel.

Thank you so much OptionZero, this is what I was looking for. What bushes do I need to consider besides replacing the arms.
God bless you.

At your stage, arms only. Thats the front upper and three in the rears:
Camber arm, traction rod, and toe rod/mid-link. The toe rod is for true type coilovers; midlink for oem type.

They also make a “billet” version of their camber and toe arms, which are just a more expensive, stronger design for those who are going that far with their cars. For you, just the camber arm, midlink and traction arm

Also note that the SPL midlink is designed for 65mm inner diameter springs. This is a common size but check whatever brand coilovers you get to make sure they are 65mm

If not, you can just buy a replacement spring from Swift
