Default 370 Mod? Sway Bar Air Deflector for Brakes on New Z Nismo

Well... I think this is VERY interesting!!

This may be a good modification for the track focused 370 to get a little more air into the wheel / brakes.
If Nissan's pricing/availability it too much/too long, I'm sure one could be drawn up and 3D printed.

Next time I'm under my car, I'm going to have a look and visualize how effective it could be.

What are your thoughts?

Not a new thing, various track guys have been buying 911 GT3 air guide/deflector for various cars. But it'll be great if Nismo makes this in a OE fitment for Z34.

That looks like a nice cheap and easy mod. I remember we had similar on the z06 that were to be installed for hpde days. I think those mounted on the suspension arm but I can’t remember exactly how they worked.

Very interesting! It looks fairly easy to make a home depot special using pipe U clamp and 1/8" hpde sheet to mount along the bends of the sway bar

Looking at it logically I only see it MAYBE shooting air up at the inside of the wheel arch which most are trying to eliminate as it creates body lift or disturbing (slowing) the air very little allowing a "breath" toward the brakes. No way it's "magically" deflecting air right at the brakes like a legitimate ducting kit.

I call out a cheap marketing ploy to say the Nismo option has brake coolers.

no doubt it wont compete with ducting but being in the car business in the past ill say they do not spend 1 cent more than absolutely necessary. case in point scene any articles mention the nismo has brake cooling? if it was for marketing theyd be feeding that line to all the mags for ROI.

There is a possibilty that this is not meant to direct air, rather pull air away.

Can't really tell from this picture, but I can see that happening, if a negative pressure is built up behind and inboard of that bracket. Since there is a positive flow from ram air from front of car and even engine bay.

Just an observation.

Having said that, if this is an air "director/deflector", I would say some sort of ducting towards the brake would make this more efficient.

Here's the part. Sadly, horrendously expensive.
Such a shame. While I didn't think it's be as cheap as GT3 guides (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/99734148392/) I was hoping for sub $100 each.

They were used on Factory Nissan 300zxtt cars back in the 90's. I can't remember what years they started installing them. I retrofit a set to my 1990 twin turbo. They work and better than any off the shelf brake duct kit we have currently. There was also a upside down NACA duct underneath the front inner fender well.

I sold it back in 2001. I still miss that car. That was my dream car, not a GTR.
