Anyone running kw1 coilovers?

Wondering if they are worth it for someone who isn’t looking to track much but does lots of spirited mountain driving. Are they stiffer than oem suspension? The kw3s interest me but I feel like I’d rarely if ever mess with the adjustability of those but if the kw1 isn’t much of an upgrade with its preset I may go with kw3 instead any input would help

I have been running KW1, for the past 5 years, I have no issues with them. Like you stated they cannot be adjusted. Do I wish I have used the KW3, only now, but I am now tracking my Z a lot.

For what I do with tracking the Z, they feel great, for everyday driving, its a bit bumpy and if you lower the car too much, which you can, then you start having to think about speed bumps and dips.

I am sure, if you search the forum you can find good opinions and what other members have done and are using.

won't drive hard
doesn't want adjustments
scared of stiffness

i will assume you want to save a buck and don't wanna be low or fit properly

The point of adjustable coilovers isnt the ability of constant height adjustment

Rather it is the ability to make SPECIFIC adjustment to height, for aesthetic, wheel fitment, travel, corner balancing etc

The advantage also includes matching the damping to the spring rates so you arent just stiff for the sake of stiff, but stiffer but in a controlled manner

The further advantage is spherical bearings instead of rubber

What im saying is **** KW, get some fortunes and SPL arms

really you don't like KWs, that is ok, might have done things differently but I am getting smarter, just some opps along the way

OptionZero he does have a point, just take the time an do your homework/research... You'll find the right setup, since there are lots of options out there...

You might want to see what other Z owners are around you and see how there setup feels...

I've got ST X (it's the same as KW V1, but it has galvanized shock body instead of stainless steel body) and it's big improvment over the stock ones. My ride height is as high as it can be, because I didn't want to lower the car much, however it was cheaper to get set of coilovers than some fixed kit like Koni.

Yes they are, it will differ on the ride height though - the lower the car is, the softer it will be. If you want want some compromise than maybe try to get a set of AP coilovers - still same manufacturer, but cheaper and they claim that APs are softer than ST/KW.

I lowered my Z with swifts and Konis and the front bottoms out on every driveway and dips in the road. Takes all the fun out of driving it. I'm going back to stock springs. With coilovers you will be going even lower than mine. I hope your roads are smooth.

adjustable coilovers are not necessarily lower than stock suspension.
tein monosport for instance:

370Z Coupe Ride Height (F): +0.3 ~ -4.3in
370Z Coupe Ride Height (R): -0.1 ~ -1.7in

properly fitted wheeels and suspension wont randomly “bottom out” whrn driven competently

****, i’m running aggressive wheels, dropped inches lower than you, and dont have any if the problems you describe

Get good coilovers with damping to match the spring rates, roll your fenders, trim the fender liner appropriately, dont drive like an idiot straight into a ramp or driveway and you’ll be fine

And if u want to be extra careful, add an air cup to the front and you can clear everything

And if you to REALLY to be smart, go to an auto X or road course and drive fast as much as they let you! Or find roads appropriate in your area for performance driving (not promoting any form of street racing)

Intentionally using the wrong tool for the wrong job doesnt make the tool useless, it just means you are

****, there are track cars that are lower than your ******* swifts and somehow they can drive on berms and **** at race speed, but boo ******* hoo that your route to the ******* grocery store is bumpy

Stick to shopping for a useless axleback exhaust and ebay diffuser

First, I don't drive like an idiot and never claimed that I couldn't drive fast thru shitty roads. I'm not about to cut my car up. I don't have an axelback, I have a catback and I didn't buy it for more hp I bought it purely for the sound. and I don't have a CF diffuser. Would be interesting to have you drive your car on my VT roads. For your information this is my other vehicle with air bags.

Aragosta's are stock height coilovers. Don't cheap out, the magic is in the damper. The more you pay, the better they are on coilovers. Then, you have to spend some time dialing them in to your liking. Don't forget all
the SPL stuff to add adjustability for the alignment.
