I replaced a front subframe in a G37 and I didnt touch the engine/trans other than unbolting the engine mounts. But I used a hoist and a jack to support the engine in the air. Gonna be a pretty crappy job on the ground but it could be done. I would find someone with a hoist and work something out with them.

Go to harbor freight and buy an engine hoist. Take off upper manifold. Get a piece of angle iron, drill it so it mounts to two manifold bolt holes. Tape lower manifold off. Bolt angle iron. Lift with hoist. Replace subframe. Return hoist to HF bc "the welds were subpar."
That's what I did, minus replacing the subframe, when I busted a motor mount and the other one seized so I couldn't do the trick where you lift the motor with a jack underneath. |
