Has anyone had any luck ordering / receiving Öhlins Road & Track coil overs for the 370Z? They are now listed in their parts catalog (on-line); however, my trusted Dealer

Has anyone had any luck ordering / receiving Öhlins Road & Track coil overs for the 370Z? They are now listed in their parts catalog (on-line); however, my trusted Dealer / Shop has been unable to actually get them here in the US.

I’m not sure anyone was ever able to get them. Ohlins sat on their *** forever not offering an option for the 370z which was bizarre on its own and then by the time they got around to it everyone has found other options that work very well.

One company uses Ohlin dampers and their own hardware. I don't remember exactly who made them but they were not cheap at all. 3k or about.

How much money is in your budget? That is the question. Don't forget all the SPL parts you will need to do a proper alignment.

Budget is not strict...but my mind was targeting the Ohlins around $2,500 - $3,000.

I was not planning on spending the $5 to $6K that I see the AST's going for...unless I can convince myself that it is really worth it.

I am currently an Intermediate Driver ready to go to Advanced (HPDE)...but was looking to get my times just a bit quicker. I typically run 6 to 8 days a year.

Regarding SPL Parts...I have already changed out the Upper Control Arms to get -2.75 Degree Camber. What other SPL parts would I "really" need?

I welcome your insights!!!

Then another call trying to clear up confusion was told they don’t have a 370z kit but could maybe make one. At that point it wasn’t feeling very impressed that no one there could even give clear information on what the F they were selling or trying to sale for the price tag they ask for.

Read my build thread on SPL parts.

Good coil-overs are going to cost you. The 5 grand coil-overs are mid priced. What ever you choose. Have the valving match the spring rate.

If I was going to do it all again I would have spent more on getting it set correctly by a professional and less on the dampers. I got a set of JRZ RS Pro 3ways with most of the SPL catalog. But just as important as good parts was getting everything setup right. I had a professional race shop install/set the initial settings of everything. SPL parts have a lot of adjust-ability to them so getting just an alignment isn't really maximizing their potential. Finally instead of spending many days finding the correct setup on the dampers I hired a pro for half a day to help get it right, he got it 90% of the way their probably would need almost a full day to get it spot on but I figure I could do the rest or just leave it as is. It's also important to run a shock dyno on any dampers you get because it would suck a lot to get to the track and only after many hours determine one of the dampers are defective.

I would recommend a Diff upgrade first if you don't have one. You will improve you lap times with that mod more than coilovers. Look at a clutch type and a diff cooler. I really like my OS Giken 1.5 way and MA-Motorsports diff cooler.

^^^This! I would complete all the SPL and suspension upgrades and get a rear diff first. Get a set of decent one ways and call it a day until you or better yet others consider you an advanced driver. Spend some money on instruction if you want to drop times faster. Also as you get faster you will want to spend money on a 4 point or full cage. Safety items become a must as the faster you go the higher the cost of a bad incident. Then worry about your coilovers. You have seconds to shave off and coilovers ain't gonna help much if you can't already drive well. Also, if you want to do more than HPDE such as Gride Life, Global Time Attack and Time Trials you may want to check the rules for the class you may want to run in as there may be limitations on what you can run for coilovers. Just my two cents from my own experience in doing several things azz backwards!
