So what you're saying is you don't have coil overs for the 370z but you've driven some friends cars that did? Ok...cool. Got it.

And why would I need to know what every single coil over feels like...just saying? I mean that'd be great if I did but, I'm pretty happy just knowing what PowerTrix and Ohlins feel like for now. Figured I'd skip the less than ideal experience of all the other manufacturers I mentioned earlier. Especially since my focus is time attack on road courses.

If you look back at my previous post I said I'm on Mines Ohlins ESTAs. They are paired with HyperCo springs at 11.7k/10.6, SPL FUCAs/LCAs, Hotchkis front sway bar, Cusco 1.5 RS differential and no rear sway...running that on my time attack 370z in Nissan challenge.

Also when I was referring to a GT Academy winner, I wasn't referring to myself. I was referring to my friend and Head Driving Instructor of Nissan Challenge....Steven Doherty. I'm just a lowly grassroots time attack driver looking to go wheel to wheel racing.

He certainly does. He's helped me tune the suspension on my car and I'd like to think I've absorbed just a pinch of his wisdom both behind the wheel and when it comes to setup

I did read up on them, they are too soft for a track like Laguna Seca (they may be ok for Willow Springs because I heard the track does get rough) and probably perfect for the street. I think they aren't aggressive enough from the info I had on them when I first started searching for coilovers so I bypassed them. Plus I'm willing to sacrifice light to moderate comfort for performance so all out comfort like the RSR and some performance is ok but not enough of a handling gain for to get my attention. I don't daily my car so I can compromise because I want to exploit as much grip available in the Canyons on weekends and the track next month.

Bob, Doherty would love to help you get the most out of your car. His process is simple and methodical, if you allow him to drive it for a session he'll basically provide a benchmark for you to follow and....he'll be able to give you direct feedback on what to change as far as damping/rebound, tires, brakes...etc. Also since you have the AIM Solo 2 DL, you can actually compare data from your laps to his...turn by turn and find out where the time is. You'll quickly learn where there's room for improvement and where you're doing things well.

We're gonna be at Chuckwalla on May 25th, not sure if your Z will be ready by then but we'll be on break for a few months and return to action again in September at Willow Springs I believe. Hope we see you soon!

Right on! My build is moving at the same pace as Spooler's build. I hope it will be ready sometime early fall. I will be heading to Chuckawalla with my brother as we will be sharing his Miata for the day. I look forward to seeing you and the rest of the gang.

Some of you new guys need to go do some searching on this site and read for a month. Then, maybe you can talk intelligently about suspension. Your not gonna get data, you going to get someone's experiences. There have been and still are some great track guys on here. Please take the time to educate yourself before spitting out nonsense and demanding data. Like someone is just going to give it to you, Really. LMFAO....

There lots advice that has given from pro drivers to very competitive grass roots individuals. It you are chasing suspension it is complex and variable. It all depends on what you want and how much you want to spend to get it.

I actually did see the long thread after I found it a few months ago lol. But just like @Hotrodz is saying, there are way too many variables and preferences.

I already made my decision to go with a pretty aggressive setup for canyon/track use that I'm confident I'll be happy with. I know it's gonna be "rough" on the street but I literally only drive my car 2 days out of the week and I have a young enough spine. If the wife doesn't want to drive with me because of the ride, she can bring pillows with her.
