Hard to see if the cv axle is moving, while you’re rocking wheel.
Also post what diff you have- including traction device

The axles were not being engaged/moving until this slack was taken up. This is a 2014 Nismo with stock diff. Only mods were axle click fix (this sound isn’t that) and z1 diff bushings. I have noticed more wheel hop recently that I thought was unusual.

Is it only on one rear wheel?
The hubs are easy to replace and not terribly expensive. How many miles on them? Were they hard miles? Seems logical to start there if you don't have another suspect.

37,000. Pretty aggressive street miles.

Have you taken off the rotor for a closer look? Consider a mechanical stethoscope to see if you can pinpoint the noise more accurately.

Maybe pads moving in the calipers...lack of oil in the diff...splines worn...excessive wear in the joint to name a few...

Check if axle center nut is tight. wheel would wobble too if it got loose.
Rotate axle by hand and feel where the most feedback from clunk is coming from. With 37k even very hard miles its too early for issues@rear end. My G has 225k km with lots of track and autox time-still on stock axles. If you know anybody close to you with Z ask them to test their car. Z has drivetrain " lash", it might even be normal. Mine clunked since new if I was bit clumsy with clutch at very low speeds- like parking.

Ok got it back on the lift and seems to trace back to the transmission. I posted a new video of this. https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#...0-2203DDD7BDAB
Car was in neutral. I think this is what I’ve been hearing while driving slowly on a bumpy road. I thought it was suspension related which is why I had it up in the air in the first place. But everything was tight so now I’m thinking it’s this. :/. I do need a new clutch and my TO bearing is noisy. Surprised my CSC is still ok but I also got the RJM pedal early on which I’ve read helps with the life of csc. |
