did some searching but most the posts seem to be about pads that are track oriented. what are the best pads for the street (no noise, relatively low dust, etc)?

I have the Hawk H2 Ceramic Pads and love them. Daily drive my G37 and have not had any issues for about 5K semi-aggressively driven miles. No noise, dust is minimal, and the bite is A LOT better than the stock pads. Pair these up with slotted/drilled rotors and you're set.

The endless Super sport-M, It has minimal dusting but also has good stopping power. Noise level is also low on it.

I'm just wondering if there is something with a little more bite than the stockers. for me, the brakes seem to be the most underwhelming portion of this car. it was up in the air between the 370Z and the STi. I drove them back to back on the same day and the STi brakes seemed to clamp on much harder than the 370Z. so, I was thinking if a pad change, stainless lines, and maybe some new fluid would beef it up a bit I may make the change.

I guess it's just the feel then that's not too awesome for me. I've come from a Porsche 993, Lotus Elise, and test drove the STi which all had much better feeling brakes in my opinion. I don't have the same confidence in the 370z brakes.

RWD braking is going to act differently than AWD. As for daily driving, the sport pads are fine for daily driving and have used mine in a few emergency cases to get me from ~70 to 0 on the highway b/c of oncoming/exiting traffic...
Was going to write more but for some reason people don't seem to think when comparing a STi vs 370Z.... EDIT: Yes I have owned both.... |

I had 2 STI's before and I think they were similar as far as braking with the stock pads to the 370. I moved up to Hawk HP+ on one of my STI's and those pads were amazing street pads, but they made a lot of noise and dust.
I do agree though that braking isn't the greatest on the stock pads and I would too upgrade to more aggressive pads. Try EBC Yellows...some people have had luck with those. |

Man stop taking this stuff like a retard. You keep trying to compare vehicles in different classes to a cheaply made Nissan that only has "budget warrior" written all over it.
"Why doesn't my $30k car handle/brake like this $40-60k car" All he 370 is, is a entry level, low budget fun toy for people that can't afford anything better. I was specifically talking about the STi if you pulled your head out of your rear. So tired of people thinking they are the same class of car, they aren't. Have you even thought about how the tires or even gear selection have to do w/ your braking? Probably not. And if you feel the need to slam the crap out of your brakes to the point where they "aren't good enough for your royal lead foot" then maybe you shouldn't have your license. This is, after all, a street car. The stock pads are fine for daily driving if you don't drive like an idiot, it wasn't made to go drifting and racing around the streets in stop and go traffic like fanboys want it to. Seriously, are people really this stupid? I guess so... |

and before you go off on me know that it is moderated and you will end up being banned for personal attack/specificically outlined in the agreement when you registered for this forum EDIT: I had yellowstuff on my previous car, i recommend them, i wont get them until i burn through my stock pads but they are very good imo. lots of dust though.

I do have to agree that I don't understand the point of getting "the best street pads", however I will say that if I go through my stock pads (as is the case almost already) and I have the choice of going stock or getting something grippier, then I'm going to pick up the grippier set. I guess you didn't think about that. If the guy wants to put Brembo 8 pot ceramic brakes on his car because they look pretty, then whatever, how does that affect you? So seriously, people aren't stupid and chill out. |
