As for cracked rotors. Stay away from drilled rotors. They love to crack at the holes. Slotted rotors are ok. To crack a blank rotor. You will only see that on a track car. And that takes some doing.

Right, i did get some aftermarket pads, just have to make sure not to get track/racing pads for a daily driver.

I have never had a drilled rotor crack on me. I however have not got them extremely hot on the track either. I run CarboTech XP8's all 4 corners. No issues on the street except when in cold (40deg or less) wet weather. You have to keep them up to temp by tapping on the brakes if you do a good bit of interstate driving where the brakes are not needed for long amounts of time. I have over 120k on my Z1 2 piece rotors on all four corners and XP8 pads.

I have the Z1 offerings front and rear with the sprinkle slotted rotors. The fronts were on the car when I got it, and fairly well worn, the last track day I did they warped slightly after 48 laps over the course of 4 sessions. For pads I have Carbotech xp12F and xp10 rear. I replaced the rings for about $350 shipped to me. I think if you track these you will need the Stillen brake ducts which I have on my car now, the steel factory rotors spread the heat load out better than the 2 piece where the heat stays in the ring bettering the chances that they will warp.
I did use a digital caliper to compare the new ones to the old and the new ones were .020" thicker, other than the outside edge where the pad wasn't wearing the rotor. |
I am not going to track my car. Its main use will be mostly Street a bit of spirited driving every now and then. My next question would be about Endless brakes as far as their pads are concerned. Does anyone have any opinion on this company and their brakes?
