OEM Front Suspension Cross-Member Support Stay

Does anyone know if the cross-member support stay holds up anything? Like maybe the engine? I damaged mine (pic included) and now my car makes a rattle noise up until

OEM Front Suspension Cross-Member Support Stay

Does anyone know if the cross-member support stay holds up anything? Like maybe the engine? I damaged mine (pic included) and now my car makes a rattle noise up until about 4K - 4.5k rpm. I was wondering if I took off the tray to replace it, would the engine fall thru on me?
