Rotor selection

With rotors, IMHO, you get what you pay for, but there are some tricks
Before use, I cryo-treat mine which doubles rotor life when used with ultra-agressive race pads. Rotor bedding is mandatory (manufacturer process). Because DBA is an Australian company (that is the A in DBA) I do tend to use them but have used Brembo in the past to good effect. I bought rotor rings and made my own hats as I have access to a mill/lathe. Still not cheap though. The other thing I did was use DBA 52102 rings as these are for a domestic AUS Ford Falcon GT ... and I bought off a race team who had to order a minimum quantity of 50 - they on-sold 10 pairs (I bought 2 sets) and kept the rest for their race team so it is always worth a lateral approach. I doubt Doran Racing have any 370Z bits left but for the price of a phone call, you never know. Cold firing helps with life and the original pair has only just been swapped after 6 years of DD and maybe 10 track sessions per year. Whatever you do, I'd strongly recommend cold-fire treatment. PM me if you want details. |

Why do you want 2 Piece Rotors? Unless it's for looks or your running a striped down track car I don't see the benefit. Cost savings would be nice but a quality set of one piece rotors are cheaper then replacement disks for 2 piece. I went with Frozen Rotors blanks, they work well on the street and track and are not expensive.

Just ordered these this morning. Have slotted rotors right now and think they are causing excessive wear on my XP8 pads. The high carbon ones worked really good for me the first time I used them. Too bad you can't get the high carbon for the rears. (free shipping)
CENTRIC HIGH CARBON PLAIN 125 SERIES ROTOR 2 In Stock $99.00 $198.00 Note: (Front) Plain vented rotor. For sport package models. CENTRIC PLAIN 120 SERIES ROTORS 2 In Stock $65.00 $130.00 Note: (Rear) Plain vented rotor. For sport package models.

Racing Brake makes a 2-piece rotor as well. Not cheap, but very high quality.

I run Z1 two piece rotors and so far they worn very well. The unsung weight is very noticeable up front. It makes for better turn it as effort is decreased. I don't think rears are as big a deal but unsprung weight is a good thing. It cracks me up that some will spend thousands on light weight wheels but just as well off buying light weight rotors. I did both and it has a big impact on handling, braking and acceleration. Just my two cents!
