Goodridge SS Brake line Upgrade: Flush/Bleeding Issues
 
Yesterday, I installed a set of Goodridge SS lines, Ferodo 2500 pads and Motul 600 fluid. I cannot get the pedal to firm up. I purged the system before cracking open the lines and then bled the system twice using a Motive power bleeder (15psi) after install. I am not getting any air bubbles showing in the fluid.
I didn't disable the ABS (manual says to disable) until the second bleed but it didnt seem to matter.
Any ideas?
BTW, ss kit was quality, easy to install and fit perfect.

The pedal goes completely to the floor? I had this problem once in another car when I made the mistake of letting all the fluid drain out of the system when replacing the calipers, always plug the lines temporarily when you are swapping out the hoses!

You are now going to need an ABS Diagnostic tool to put the ABS system into purge mode. Unfortunately these are non-standard for foreign cars so it's going to have to get towed to the dealer unless you can find somebody with one.

I feel dumb! Didn't catch the back side bleeders. Bled again and now the pedal is hard as a rock.
Initial impression: lost some braking modulation but the bite is intense. More to follow.

Quality is top notch. Fit is perfect. I ended up using the factory lock plates instead of the (4) supplied. The supplied plates were a PITA to install, didn't quite fit.
FYI, I am running Akebono's.

It takes less pedal to get the same amount of braking. The brakes felt grabby until I adjusted my braking style. My only frame of reference for now is the street. I am sure it will be different on the track with higher speeds.

Yeah this happened to me when installing my stoptech ss lines on my g35c. I didn't bleed the brembos as good as I thought and i forgot about the backside. The pedal hit floor without braking at all. I then rebled and the brakes were perfect again.

I just installed the Z1 brake lines, and had the guy rebleed the brake lines twice, I'm really starting to think that I should return the Z1 lines & get the goodridge lines. My petal was almost hitting the floor & now I have to double tap the brakes everytime to get the pressure up. It's just really inconsistant & idk what to do.

Check for leaks. One of the flare connections may have been overtightened damaging the connection, or it was undertightened and is leaking. Either way you should feel "wetness" around that connection when you touch it. Worse he could of overtightened the bleeder screw, but you can usually correct this with some thread sealant like the kind used on speed bleeders.

So do you think I should just keep the Z1 lines or switch to goodridge lines? I'm going to Nissan on Friday and am going to have them rebleed the lines.

Replace the lines if they are damaged.

Are you detecting any loss of brake fluid at all? ABS light come on?

No abs light, I checked and my fluid is the same. Maybe Nissan can figure it out, it's just not consistant when I step on the petal.

Sounds like a bad bleed then. Hopefully when properly bled you will be ok.

If the brakes come back after a tap and there is no leak then it could be something else such as pad knock back. Which brake calipers do you have?

The akebono sport package calipers, I'm sure Nissan should be able to bleed them correctly.

I'm having the same issue...No ABS light...no leaks...no more bubbles. Pedle is almost ok feeling...approx. 20% mushier than stock when it should feel firm as hell. ABS was unplugged during bleed.

There are bleeders on both sides of the sport calipers... have to do both.

Ding fries are done...After that post I went out to the car and viola...this thing has 8 bleeding points...LOL...I feel stupid! I got it done today and Holly g-forces we have a winner! :tiphat: :driving:
