You can always get Z1 front 2-piece sprinkle slotted and generic 1-piece rear sprinkle slotted rotors to match.

It is sprinkle slotted. But you're right that it doesn't match Z1's pattern. DBA makes a 1-piece sprinkle slotted rear rotor as well. But it doesn't match either (it matches their front 2-piece sprinkle slotted rotors).

I don't know of any other rotor besides the 2 piece Z1 that refers to their pattern as sprinkle slotted. Just because other rotors have multiple, random, whatever slots, does not make them "sprinkle slotted". Unless you can find a definition for "sprinkle slotted" it's just Z1's name for their particular pattern. DBA calls theirs T3 Slot Design for Tri-Symmetrical. So, maybe since these eBay rotors also have a 3 slot design, you should say they are T3 Slot Design rotors. I'm sure DBA would be fine with that I wouldn't call them T3, I also wouldn't say they are sprinkle slotted, but I guess thats just me being particular about my words. For what its worth, Brakenetic calls theirs "an array of symmetrical curve slots".

Personally, I would define "sprinkle slotted" as a sprinkling of slots on the face of the rotor. It doesn't seem to me that you can assume a particular layout of the slots from the word sprinkle. And therefore, in my opinion, all of the rotors I referred to in fact have a sprinkle slotted option even if their patterns are different and the manufacturers use different names for them. Others may feel differently.

I have the 2-piece Z1's front and rear. Love 'em! They are not like some past slotted rotors I had on other cars that made a ton of noise and vibration. Had "power slots" on my SC300 sold by Les Shwab(never ever go there!), and some EBC slotted on my WRX. The wrx made a ton of noise if you enjoyed having the windows down, the Lex it was major pedal vibration.
I'm thinking either the sprinkle pattern or just smaller staggered slots = benefits without the noise? Whatever the case is, they do the job seamlessly. |
