Fabrication help - brake ducting
Morning all,
Issue: How do i mount the flange to the backing plate? 1. I'm thinking to cut off the 2" mounting flange from this and enlarge the 2" hole --> https://www.stillen.com/media/catalo...3/0/308360.jpg 2. Bought a aluminum flange to mount the new 3" hose http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...cs/10350-8.jpg p.s. i don't weld |
Can't you just use a bunch of pop rivets? Is there enough meat left on the brackets once you cut out for the larger holes?
|
I like Chuck33079's pop-rivet idea. Or nut-and-bolt it. You may have to drill some smaller holes in backing plate.
If you can't drill, RTV (or similar) might work. |

Pretty much any big box home improvement store. Don't buy the cheapest rivet tool - spend the extra few bucks.

osbornsm, Can you give me a break, and try to post tech threads where they belong in the tech section? Im getting a little tired of you simply using the gd section to post 95% of your threads. I would appreciate it IF you can help me out here. Thanks :tiphat: Moved to the correct section ;) |

Didn't know where to put the Fabrication stuff... although it is brake related. Noted. |
Have you tried to route a 3" house from your front bumper to the rotors? I ask because it seems like mounting the 2" with out any rubbing issues was a small challenge.
Why are you going to 3", not enough cooling with the 2"? (Edit, just found your other thread that mentioned you were getting high temp readings at your rotor.) |
ossy, post some pictures on how you ran the 3" hose. I would just use pop-rivets. RTV=bad idea.
