Why...I did the Dragon with red stuff and they performed well. Many folk track with their more aggressive pads and they have a good reputation all around.

Having blown through a set of yellows in 9K, I have a bad taste in my mouth with EBC. And I'm not the only one I know of that's had very poor life and performance out of EBC pads.

I think that is more about braking style than the brakes. I have heard the same story about carbotech brakes as well. I'm on the extreme other side of the spectrum as I'm really easy on my brakes. My carbotechs have better than half the pad left and they are year old with a handful of track days on them.
