Pre and post 06/2012 Sport Brake differences
I understand there's a slight difference between the rear brake lines with a cutoff of 06/2012. There were slight modifications made.
What exactly was modified and does anyone have a shot of the differences side by side? For the life of me, I can't find an image that shows a difference between the actual brake lines including OEM lines. Much appreciated! |
Bueller?

Ok had a chance to look at my own vehicle and snap a few photos.
Here are pre-06/2012 rear braided lines from Goodrich. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...psdmmkt1eb.jpg Here's one end the stock brake line that'll be replaced showing the fitting which is identical to the Goodrich line on the same end. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...psiyn3gnkh.jpg Here's the brass block end of things, stock and the Goodrich line. Looks pretty much the same, right? http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps3v2ntme2.jpg Now here's a closeup. Notice on the stock line, there's a U-shaped "clip" for lack of a better term which surrounds the hose end. But it doesn't actually clip in to anything. It looks like it's there to keep the assembly from rotating when tightened. This is a 2013 MY vehicle. It looks like I'd be fine using the pre 06/2012 brake line here. Can anyone else see or think of a reason? http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...psnyjeylqj.jpg |
Hi Ape. I believe this thread outlines the differences.
http://www.the370z.com/brakes-suspen...ake-lines.html Also since I have lots of spare parts - Here is a pic of zSpeed 2012+ brake lines with the block and the "clip" - Which in this case isn't really a clip, it is the oem mounting bracket for the block. Having the parts off the car make it a lot easier to make sense of. http://www.the370z.com/members/zeroz...ure95542-a.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/zeroz...ure95543-a.jpg Hope that helps. |
Yeah, same "clip" that's in my photo but of course mine's still attached and yours is a whole lot cleaner! It looks like those little extensions on the bracket just keep the line from rotating when you tighten the bolt down. Dunno. I'd have to see a photo of aftermarket rear lines designed for the 07/2012 on up cars.
I did see that thread but it's the fronts only pictured and I believe it's the rears that changed after 06/2012. Thank you for the photos, much appreciated. |
Well I missed an email from Spencer at Specialty Z, it's the FRONT lines that changed, not the rears. Dunno how I came to the conclusion it was the rears. Will pull a wheel off after work and take a peek. Will post photos.

Front line is all that changed, It went from a 90* at the block to a straight fitting where it attaches at the hub.
|
Here's the actual fitting in question. This is the OUTBOARD fitting on the front brake lines. This is my OEM line, build date is 08/12. On the Goodridge lines it's a brass block.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...pso9hekyu2.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...psz8ubqudc.jpg I've found the Goodridge lines for the later build date and will be ordering those. Goodridge is a pain in the ***. Hard to find and no online parts lookup for U.S. spec cars. |
Yours is the later style, I have not seen where Goodridge makes lines for it. The goodridge lines with the block is for the earlier style brakes, It goes to a 90* at that point on the early ones VS the later which is straight like yours.

So they did come out with new lines, Part# 22077 for the 12+ Sport
