Just picked up my car with TT conversion, oh my god what fun! I knew the cars stock deficits would pop up (09 base manual). So it hits boost, rear starts spinning..usually starts to swing to the left. I suspect the base rear is the culprit. So anyway, spending my savings on the TT what (in order of importance) should I concentrate on piece by piece to get the power to the ground. Looking for sport driving/trackdays versus drag racing.
Thanks! Alan |

LSD and new diff bushings, then start replacing all the rear mushy rubber suspension bushings with SPL camber, toe and traction arms.

Thanks everyone, seems Quaife is one of popular ones and for once the base coupe has an advantage as doesn't need modifying to accept the change. I will read up but is the diff conversion best left to pro's (shims, backlash, etc) or is it a relatively straight forward install?

I'd be getting that open diff out pretty quick,,,can be very dangerous/un-predictable.

I will pick up/install ASAP, until then just need to control my right foot. Of course I will do the bushings at the same time, gotten good at those since i've just replaced all rear subframe, control arms, etc. on E46 BMW 3 series..in excess of 20 bushings, many rather large. Those cars have a reputation for stressing/cracking of the unibody where the rear diff carrier mounts. They make a weld in reinforcement kit that I also installed, I haven't read of any problems with metal integrity on the 370 so hoping thats not an issue.

Good deal; my ~Z~ is N/A & Quaife was first real mod/after car decided to change lanes on its on...if tires broke loose on a straight-Away...the one with the least amount of weight would spin faster & if they decided to swap sides,,,you could change lanes in a heartbeat!

I can relate to your pics, I changed all the BMW bushings with sockets, pipe, all thread, freezing bushings, etc. I have some sockets now that won't serve any other other purpose than changing BMW bushings after modding and welding on them..and I can tell you that will never happen again (on that car at least) |

One more option that you may want to consider, is upgrading the rear cover.
I got my stuff from Z1 Motorsports & the offer a rear cover upgrade kit/ which holds more fluid, has cooling fins & comes with everything you need for installation.(including fluid) Those are great people to work with & I'm thinking the Quaife is on sale right now there.

Synolimit loves the EavetrC diff and he does a lot of tracking
But like everyone else said More tire, better tires Coilovers and everything SPL for full adjustability. Diff and subframe bushings Last edited by OptionZero; 11-12-2016 at 02:06 PM. |
