ABS light and traction control light need help
 

Hi everyone,

Need some help here. After my last car wash (at a self-wash place), my ABS and traction control light both lighted up in the middle of the drive home. I shut the car off after I got home and restarted and they went away so I thought it just glitched. Next morning I started the car sitting idle for a couple minutes, no lights. As soon as I start to back out of the parking space, both lighted up again. I drove to work and parked. Checked codes using OBDII, nothing would show up. I checked the brake fluid level as some search result suggested, it's above max. Not parking in any incline/decline either. As soon as I shut the car off and restart, the lights would go away but as soon as the car is in motion again, the lights are on.

Any clues on what this could be and how to fix it?

My guess is that it has to do with a wheel speed sensor - knocked out of alignment, connector knocked loose, water in connector, &c.

if it's not throwing any codes, is there any way to tell which wheel speed sensor is the culprit to narrow down? Also, where are the sensors located so I can check whether there is a loose connection?

A good OBD scanner will probably let you look at the individual sensors. The FSM (link in my sig) has physical location, wiring diagrams, &c.

The Actron 9575 that I have doesn't have live wheel speeds as one of the data fields so can't really tell which one...

I just got a copy of the manual and I still cannot tell where the harness (connector) is from the diagram. Is it something you can access easily from the wheel wells?

I'm not sure where the wiring is physically located. :( You will have to do some digging, but harness routing and connector locations are in the FSM.

Some PDF readers will allow you to search a folder - put all the FSM PDFs in a folder and tell your reader to search that folder for "wheel speed". Connector pinouts are in there, too.
