I'm a fan of EE. Yes, all of these are true. Lowering springs will wear out shocks prematurely, and spacers put more wear on bearings (but so do wide, low offset wheels so it isn't really going to be a problem with anything at/under 25mm)

Thought about getting Swift springs and spacers but I think I might hold off for the moment..

I run 15mm H&R stud replacement on all four corners. Unless you go with big spacers you'll be fine - for added peace of mind i'd recommend getting stud replacement rather than bolt-ons. Also Nismo wheels have better offsets and are wider so a 10mm spacer would give you a great stance at stock height.

As for springs, anything over an inch drop won't do shock life any favors. If I ever lower it'll be done on full coil overs. Speaking of which - Vivid Racing has HKS Hipermax IV GT coil overs on sale for $1,000 right now which is a really, really good deal.

Thanks for info. I'll check out the HKS

Where did you find this pricing? Their site says 1,500 and change. Would appreciate the place to find at this pricing...

I checked the HKS application guide and they only offer one model for the Z34 platform...

In any event this is a really good price and so tempting.

I'm tempted too. Great price. Searched and found a lot of info on differences of coil overs but nothing on why I should get them to replace my stock (Nismo) suspensions. I don't track, I just want a slightly lowered car daily driving.. but is spending $1K+ even make sense. Love for somebody to convince me to spend some $ on these

Why?

OptionZero 09-21-2016 03:20 PM

nah

its the people are too cheap to do any mods right

if they gonna **** around, they can do it for even cheaper

RanRich 09-21-2016 03:28 PM

I get that, but if a known shop is offering name brand parts on serious discount why wouldn't you take that deal? That's what clearance is...

OptionZero 09-21-2016 03:45 PM

because HKS hipermax IVs mark a significant downgrade from hipermax III's, in that the III's were made in Japan while the Iv's were outsourced to . . . elsewhere and are likely just rebranded versions of generic taiwanese mass market stuff

OTOH, for a sub-$2000 i'd probably give PowerTrix a call.

and if ur going over $2000, you should look at Aragosta, AST, or something custom

nevermind that if you're getting coilovers of any kind you also should be going SPL arms all around and get full adjustability camber/caster/toe/etc

and while you're at it get some wheels that fit your goals
