Thinking of switching from current Swift springs to H&R on my Nismo
I've had my Swift setup for about a year, and while I absolutely love the ride and handling, I never fell in love with the stance of the car. See pic of my setup below:
http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/y...psocal17e4.jpg I'm not a fan of the saggy rear end look where the front is higher. So I'm thinking about changing these for the H&R springs. This car belongs to member Brandon3434 and I got this picture from the Nismo picture thread: http://i.imgur.com/uiE7J6p.jpg Perfect drop IMO I currently have the SPL or SPC rear arms (I forget which ones I got) and 20mm spacers rear and 15mm spacers front. Swift seems to be the popular spring choice here by far and there aren't too many people on H&Rs. While I love the look of the drop, I'm not sure how the ride (comfort-wise) and handling will differ. Coilovers are not an option as I don't want to spend $2k for a quality set. I read somewhere that the Swift springs were designed to work with the OEM dampers and I'm almost sure that's not the case with H&R. Will this mean that my ride quality will suffer? The H&R drop in the front, on paper, is about .03 more than the Swift - that's pretty significant. I'm really just looking for feedback on the swap. Is Swift really that much more superior of a spring compared to H&R? Will I regret ditching the Swifts? Any issues with H&Rs on oem struts/dampers? Thanks |
I regret switching from Swift to Ark GT-S simply because the latter was too low and I ended up damaging the front bumper, OEM diffuser, air guides, and even my FI canisters. However, I never really fell in love with the Swifts because I found the drop to be too conservative. Even after I bought aftermarket wheels, I still wasn't too fond of the look. How much would you end up spending on rear H&R springs and aftermarket shocks? I'm really not too keen on mixing and matching springs and shocks. You mentioned you don't want to spend thousands on coilovers, which is totally understandable. However, you can get a used set for a reasonable price. Not sure what you think of the KW V1, but I was able to get a brand new set for under 1,000 Euros.

Have you seen this thread?
http://www.the370z.com/brakes-suspen...arisons-2.html The H&R has somewhat of a raked look. |
