We have a front whiteline and will get them as soon (or maybe sooner..) I've worked with Whitline (and been one of their highest sellers) on their Evo parts for years...
Our 370 turns in if anything a bit too fast....sways are a part of the equation (like we run no rear sway at all.....). But we have an open dif 370...go figure!

It's now more of a 50% Koala, 50% Kangaroo blend for better turn in.

^haha

What Im trying to get at is that these are all comparable as far as materials are concerned. They are all some chromoly steel and behave similarly. The only difference is how thick (stiff) they are, whether they are solid or hollow and the balance between the front and rear. You guys really can't say one is SO much better than the other one because of who makes it. Its all about whats best for your personal car.

So get this bs name/brand hyping out of your heads.

whiteline.... i had their swaybar on my 02 WRX long time ago when those subi's first came out. they were fine as far as wat they were... pretty much just a bent piece of metal. ;)

A long time ago on this forum, it was recommended that hotchkis be used for modded suspensions and stillens when you keep the stock suspension... this is my recollection. Correct me if I'm wrong?
But if this theory is true?? Is the OP is running hotchkis on stock suspension? Wouldn't this be a valid reason for his lack of enthusiasm toward the hotchkis?? Just an observation and nothing more. :)

RCZ 11-23-2009 04:45 PM

Yeah, I've said that before. Its because the stiffer bars work better with a stiffer suspension. Hotchkis are stiffer than the stillen. I think the stillen are great for stock and for upgraded springs. I have considered using them with my KW's too. I think they will be good.

If you have something with a higher springrate, then go with the thicker bars. You will be able to make the most out of the combination of the two.

There is a subtle difference - The companies name goes a long way... but not in the way you describe it. I feel the difference between stillen / etc ... vs the cusco / whiteline is that with the more expensive "high end" sways you get something that has been R&D'd for your car - not a car thats similar to yours... As in... its not the same part from the G37 world - its fab'd for the 370z

Well, there is something to be said for a specialty company that's able to devote more time to research and development concerning their products. I agree with you there.

But that's not to say the bigger companies don't do a great job in their products.

I have Stillens (set to the medium position on the rear). They are about perfect for the stock spring and shock set-up. I experimented a bit this weekend and the stiff setting actually took too much feel out of the car. I actually felt it as soon as I pulled out of the driveway. Soft setting is great (I've run it this way the past few thousand miles) , Medium is a nice tweek up which I think I will stick with..

This car is extremely sensitive to minor chassis changes. The sways are one example, Spacers (15mm) on the rear only resulted in more understeer. Balancing them with the same on the front brought it back

No offense but a lot of the time the "higher end" expensive companies use the same no name parts as the cheaper ones and simply re-brand and re-price them. I dont know that Hotchkis or Cusco have done any extra research to get these things out on the market. In fact if I had to guess I'd say they are just using G37 stuff. It serves the same purpose and its not exactly a part that requires tons of research. Just because they got their products out to the market late and they charged more money doesn't mean anything to me. Do you think that if Cusco made bars that are the same "stiffness" as the Stillen, they would be better just because they are cusco?

Modshack - You went with 15mm all around? I was hoping to do 20mm rear and 15mm Front, but now you got me thinking about doing 15 all around. I wish the stock wheels were narrower and uglier...it would make buying new wheels so much easier...

Im thinking 20mm rear, 15mm front spacers with Stillen bars set medium in the rear. I think that would work fine with my slightly tail happy alignment. I've never used spacers before though, do they mess up your alignment?

I am running bc coil overs... Which do have a higher spring rate than stock. Perhaps I'll try the stillen, I haven't read any co plaints of understeer from users, but have read alot of complaints from hotchkis users.

racerxj17 11-25-2009 04:41 PM

didnt know where else to update, but i take back all the crap i talked about hotchkis. i was seriously ready to take off my coil overs, and put everything back to stock it handled so terrible with major understeer.

today i put the stock front bar on, and was going to set the rear hotckis to soft to see where that leaves me.

turns out, the endlink was not connected at the TOP where it connects to the frame in the rear (means i had NO sway in the rear). how it came off, i dont know. when i installed the bar, i never loosened, or touched the top bolt on the end link. i put the front hotchkis back on, and WOW.

it feels like another car. perfect 4 wheel drifts (rear in stiffest position). no understeer, mild oversteer. SO happy right now....... honestly just feel in love with the car again. :ugh2:
