Z1 upper control arms, NEED HELP..

Hey all,

I recently installed Swift springs, and due to the camber I ordered and installed Z1 upper control arms (street version) and SPL rear camber arms and toe bolts.

Installation went smooth on all aspects. I followed the instructions to a "T" that being said.. I worked on the car across the street at my neighbors house (he has a full garage set up complete with air tools" any way's.. After the install I had to go to work so I could not run her by an alignment shop (plan on taking it Wednesday) but as I pulled out of his driveway and into my drive way I could not believe the noise that was coming from the upper control arms.. they are popping/squeaking and making all kinds of god awful noise..

If I'm not mistaken aren't these supposed to come pre greased and ready to install?

Any help would be very grateful... I'm trying to trouble shoot this before I call Z1

As always,

Thanks!:driving:

You will have to grease them up. The dry bushings on the dry bolts are going to be causing a lot of noise and wear. Grease them up ASAP to prevent them from getting damaged.

Rule of thumb. Always check to see if it needs grease before install. Grease it after install.

So they don't come greased up? I'm picking up a set soon.

Don't seem that way... Ill hit them up with a grease gun on Wednesday... Ill let you know if that fixes the issue..

Even if they were pre-greased. You should always re-grease after install. Metal on metal friction is not good. Keep us posted on this Wonka.

Btw, nice choice going with Z1 and SPL.

Just be careful. Grease only the rubber bushings. Most quality heim joints/sphericals used in automobile applications have a teflon insert and are not meant to be lubricated. If you lubricate them it will interfere with the (wait, can the word "deposition" be used that way?) of the teflon on the metal, the teflon is intended to be the lubricant.

I am pretty sure it's a steel bolt going through a brass bushing...

a person on the G forums is also having issues with these.

Z1 Front Upper Control Arm (race) followup - MyG37

maybe better to return them rather than wasting time unless of course z1 fixes them up quick

Ya I was only going to try to use a grease gun on the grease fittings to see how it goes first.

Yes, I did read where someone had a lose Allen on the ball joint. I checked those before installing them.. They were not tight at all. I put a little bit of lock tight and tightened them up.
