Default Looking for coilover advice

After searching through the forum, I would like some more recent, personalized input on my situation.

I am currently just running OEM suspension and am looking for the best coilover options with my budget of $1500. It is my daily driver and for now, I just do spirited driving, no autox or track.

I've heard good things about Fortune auto 500 and hks hypermax IV, but I don't know if BC BR with Swift springs would be a better option. I do want to lower the car, but only to close the wheel gap for better fitment, not stancing it.

If you have any suggestions, please help me out

Tein's are a better option with a $1500 price point.

KW v1. I got them bc everyone says great things about KW, and I don't need the option to adjust, KW did that already for me. "Optimally pre-adjusted" . Anyways I like em!

Is the $1500 your total budget on this order or just for the coilovers? cause you have to remember you'll also need some parts for proper alignment. So if you have a total $1500 budget and you want to install the coilovers now, think that SPL camber arms are around $260, SPC toe bolts are $30, and probably want to get a lockout kit $60 so now your $1500 is really $1200-$1270.
I'm actually in the same boat right now trying to figure out what i want/need and what I'm truly wanting out of it. Are you looking at performance, or just want to close that fender/wheel gap. So i'm personally leaning to either BC br w/swift spring upgrades or swift/koni setup since my car is a DD/weekend warrior.

I've had both Fortune Auto and Tein on previous cars (still running the Fortune coilovers on my GS430) and either would be a good choice though I'm partial to Fortune. I ended up going with Stance for the Z but wouldn't be able to recommend yet as they're still in boxes waiting for warm weather...

I love my stance but, the pro comps are out of your price range. They do have a cheaper version non true type coilover.

This is why I went with HKS GT4s. I just wanted a little better handling and to lower the car a bit nothing crazy. The drop HKS ships there coilovers with is the perfect amount where you can still get the car dialed back into spec without any other suspension parts. I can still easily drive my car around with out scraping on everything and it looks great. I love the handling. Also in 5 mins I can go from a ride quality of a little softer than stock to a firm rigid ride that wants to take corners faster than I want to take them. I highly recommend the HKS setup.

That's great that it has worked out for you, but at the same time everyone will do their suspensions different, so he/she might want it lower and depending on how low; like no fender/wheel gap you'd more then likely need the adjustability of camber arms and toe bolts. I mean even with the swift springs most people need arms/bolts and that's only 1.2"/1" drop, some have gotten away without them, but for me I would still plan on arms/toe bolts if I went with swift springs.

But for the OP's question, he/she should really think and decide what they are trying to accomplish and properly budget from there. If their budget is total $1500 and they spend it all on a set of coilovers and realize they need camber arms/toe bolts they might have wasted time and money. Do they really need coilovers, will a set of swifts or other springs accomplish what they want? If they really want coilovers, what will suffice, if he/she is looking at Fortune or even HKS IV then in reality a set of BC BR with or even without swift springs, might be just fine and they would have extra money for other things. It really comes down to what they are trying accomplish and their true budget. But whichever way they chose, they should plan on arms/toe bolts and not chance the roll of the dice...tires are expensive, last thing i'd want to do is scrub tires, then have to buy new tires as well as camber/toe bolts. Just my .02

Thank you for the great advice and sorry for not being more specific. I have set aside the $1500 for specifically coilovers, setting a max limit on the amount I would like to spend on those alone. I do have additional funds for the camber arms/ additional parts. Maybe to be more clear, the drop would be at most to a 1-2 finger wheel gap and handling would be something decent for daily driving but still planted through turns when driving hard.
Also, I saw a forum member selling these, idk if you guys can also give me feedback on these compared to the ones you have mentioned

Another option is Powertrix. Charles Park is the owner and a 370z owner. Try sending him an email and you might be able to get a better price than listed on his web page. He also offers Swift springs as an upgrade. I have the sport street set with Swift springs and been very happy with the set up.

Nice review on the forum HERE by axemea?

I would also recommend planning for camber arms and toe bolts for the rear.

With that being said look into the HKS. $1700 new but you could probably find them cheaper. I bought mine used from a forum member for $1200. It's a .8 inch drop so that should be what your looking for. You can see before and after pics on my Instagram account if you would like to look. It's three_seven_zero. That's what I was looking for and these were perfect. I then paired them with Eibach sways and spl endlinks and I love it. I'm not trying to sway you. It doesn't matter to me what you go with. What you describe is exactly what I was looking for and this has been my very pleasant experience with the HKS coilovers. Just ask some of the other forum members who have run them. They are a great street setup.

Honest mate. I would 100% go for teins but with EDFC unit. spend a little more. I am going for that kit my self. From every1 that has installed teins with EDFC they all say its amazing.

OP. chrismau is correct. You will need to factor in the other essentials to do it right. If you want it lower on the front you will only get away with it only so much and will definitely need front upper control arms if you go lower. That's 250 to 700 right there. Rear camber arms at 250 +, toe bolts, and then labor. That does not give you a lot left for the coilovers. You may also want to consider swift springs on stock struts and call it a day. You said it yourself, DD and no ax and track.
