New Pads at 10000 miles?
I am being told by a mechanic, who I had typically trusted explicitly, tell the brakes on my 2010, with 10k miles needed the brake pads changed out. Since I haven't had a chance to pull the wheels and look myself yet. So I thought I'd querie the forum and see what you all thought about this.

Unless the car has been run at the track, I seriously doubt that the pads need to be replaced.
I put new pads on mine at around 40k (preference, not need) and there was a ton of material still left. |
38k on original pads with plenty of spirited driving.
Until you can get the wheels off and check them out, I would not believe that, pads shouldn't go out that quickly |
Well I pulled front and rear wheels and damn if there isn't just 3/32 left on each end! Looks like I have something to do on day off next week after
all... |
Just left stealership today and have 3-4mm left on front and rear. I'm at 50k. Next Friday my baby is getting new pads and probably rotors up front.
|
I have seen customers destroy a stock set in 1000 miles, really all depends on how/where you are driving.
|
10K miles is a bit soon for pads. The best thing to do is check the wear yourself. It's super easy to do with the Sport brakes.

I did pull and see only 3/32. Has anyone used the PowerStop rotor and pads sets for the Z? I've used them on my xterra and had good results, not sure of any reviews on the Z.
