whether or not to install coilovers
 

I bought a set of BC BR coilovers back in may and havent had a time to install them. I'm starting to have second thoughts about installing them altogether. I'd love to get rid of the wheel gap but the roads around here are ******* horrifying . I'm just looking for some opinions as to whether install them or not

Been to NJ no offense the roads are worst than a Third word country or comparable. Coils is one of my favorite mod I did for suspension upgrade, I'll never go back to Oem struts.

But I'm fortunate FL is one of the best roads in the U.S. Due to no winter season.

So to answer your question I would not do it if you think the roads you daily drive would be a rough.

Swift springs would be liveable.

No offense taken I agree our roads suck. They do half-assed jobs patching holes. I'm mainly concerned about screwing up the frame rails

Are you willing to sell them?

I'm undecided. I'd like to hear from some people in NJ who have coilovers if possible

OP try swift springs instead. Is your Z your daily drive?

Yes it is

With swift springs you have about 1 and 1/2 to 2 finger breath from the fender arches.

Well you can adjust the height of your coils not to extreme drop and adjust your dampers to firm.

You really have to plot your travel route if you go lowered. I have scrapped my Z multiple times with speed bumps and steep inclines through gas stations.

Such a pain sometimes but worth the trade off.

I have Swift springs and they're great. However, sometimes I wish I went with a more aggressive drop. ARK Performance springs come to mind.

I would say go for it. Coilovers are going to give the ability to change the height that works best for your situation. Plus it allows you to change the dampening. I would think bad roads would be an incentive to go with coils instead of springs. If you get springs, you are stuck with what you end up with. With coils you get to customize the ride to your situation. I had Swift springs and liked the look, but ended up changing over to coils (with Swift springs) and the ride is better. I basically have them set at the same height as Swift, so even with the same look as before, I prefer the coils.

I was able to drop mine just to the point I don't scrape my driveway.

Don't do Swift springs if the roads are that bad. There's no adjustability whatsoever. You'd be stuck with the ride the way it is, unless you paid more $/spent the time to take them back off.

The bad roads with the springs will just wear out other stock suspension parts quicker.

I have BR's. Its not the potholes that will get you, it's the freakin speed bumps and slight inclines. I scrape all over town and I'm in California lol. BUT if it gets too much for you, you can always adjust the height. The BR's ride nice depending on the dampening too. I say go for it.
