So there is a problem, but notified after the falure!

I received that email too I called and spoke with John but it was in regards to another item I purchased.

wideglideleon 04-25-2016 08:58 AM

I talked to Chuck from Z1 this morning he said to have my shop contact him and they will sent new part. My shop isn't open yet, In AZ it's only 6:50am here.

He was saying that they have had some issues with these but thought most problems were from people or shops disessembeling the ball joint and not using locktite properly when putting back together.
Since I installed mine and was present when my car was alligned it was not the case.
None of us disessembeled the ball joint EVER. They were preessembled from the factory and were left that way.

Got the same email. Recently started hearing clunking noise coming from left front after greasing them to eliminate squeaking noises. Glad I didn't do the canyon run I had planned to this weekend.

wideglideleon 04-25-2016 10:39 AM

There seems to be a patern formimg with these.
Zl is saying the ball jonts need a different locktite so the bolt doesnt back out.

Helm joint Malfunction

This is ridiculous,

Last night coming home from Palm springs my Driver Side z1 upper control arms malfunctioned as well. I received the same email that you have from spencer.

http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/a..._93/image1.jpg

Luckily I didnt get into an accident. I replied to their email to verify that the upper control arm was the issue but not have heard anything back form them.

Terrible

wideglideleon 04-25-2016 10:46 AM

Same side as mine same issue. CALL them they need to fix this issue before someone DIES!

RumbleFish 04-25-2016 11:25 AM

I just called them and the guy (not Chuck or Spencer, didn't get his name) said there's no problem with any of their FUCA purchased within the last few weeks. I told him about the email people are receiving and he says it was a mistake and never should've been sent.

Something seems very fishy.

JD370Z13 04-25-2016 11:31 AM

Ive only had my upper control arms since February 2016. This is still an issue. When the tow truck driver put my car on a jack he pulled out the bolt. showed me what the issue was. Im not sure giving me a replacement part will make me feel better about using their control arms.

RumbleFish 04-25-2016 11:50 AM

Mods, you should make this a sticky post.

Rusty 04-25-2016 11:58 AM

Is that bolt backing out, or breaking?

wideglideleon 04-25-2016 12:15 PM

Just heard from my shop it backed out not broken. They have it back together to get in in the shop. Just got done talking with Chuck from Z1 he told me that they have revised the locktite they are using and the torgue spec.
I will have my shop do both sides with the newly suggested locktight and torque spec.

New locktite they suggets is 271 new torque spec is 57ft lbs.

Very sorry for the inconvenience guys, we are sending updated components out this week.

Thanks,

Jon

For the time being I am going to remove my z1 fuca and replace with oem as my passenger side is making a **** ton of noise as of today and hearing the ball joint backing out is worrying. Noise has been there but only so slightly after my last track day.

hopefuly Z1 can help me defer some of the cost from the tow to the shop and the shop cost having to take care of the issue.

Well, you've got someone over there telling people nothing is wrong with these FUCA.Some guy told me the ones I purchased a month or so ago are fine, obviously, this is incorrect.

I sure hope Z1 going to help pay to un-install, un-assemble then, re-assemble and reinstall these fuca's
