I believe there's a thread for that already. I think this is more meant as a buying guide.

I created this thread as a reference for those shopping for coils. I did not reference my engineering textbooks when describing the nature of dampeners.

If you're gonna try to make a sticky thread and call it a "bible" then it needs to be accurate and detailed. I'll work on gathering information but I'm surprised the mods stickied this already considering how little information you had before posting it.

I know it's nit-picking but if you're going to write the bleedin' bible on this, for the love of god (lol) will you please use the correct term?

damp·ing
ˈdampiNG/Submit
noun
1.
technical
a decrease in the amplitude of an oscillation as a result of energy being drained from the system to overcome frictional or other resistive forces.

damp·en
ˈdampən/Submit
verb
gerund or present participle: dampening
1.
make slightly wet.
"the fine rain dampened her face"
synonyms: moisten, damp, wet, dew, water; literarybedew
"the rain dampened her face"
2.
make less strong or intense.
"nothing could dampen her enthusiasm"

2 will confuse some people but it's used in a metaphorical sense. In this case, the opposite of being enthusiastic would be a wet towel. In any case, please stop watering your cars.

Water humor, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waiter.

And if you took this post WAY too seriously you can go argue with these fine fellows, I, honestly, don't have the energy: http://english.stackexchange.com/que...rring-to-sound

Understood. I gues the title kinda mislead me to the word "Bible of coilovers" with
"Everything you need to know" statement.

Search engine will bring me through salvation into the light! Lol

Nevertheless I appreciate you Osbornsm.

Your right!

I should've waited for more info to come in.

I'll look into sticking it later on as it matures with info.

For others

As for bible in title? Yes, I think it may have been a stretch.

I'll edit it and again will see how in depth this gets.

Thank You for those contributing pros/cons

Wait - If we're going to call this the bible shouldn't it be wildly inaccurate and full of easily disproved fairy tales?

good progress!

notes:
all coilovers are height adjustable...

dampers are either 1 way, 2 way, or 3 way. you listed many 1 way coilovers as 2 way. (EX: D2 Racing RS, BC racing BR)

Tein only offers 3 coil sets for the z34. 1 has no dampening adjustment, the others have one way.
NISSAN 370Z

I would still like to see other important features mentioned such as the ones outlined in the acronym system I suggested.

I'm happy with my Powertrix coilovers. Charles, the owner, designed them for the Z and also offers upgraded Swift springs.

You won't edit this thread again... lol, i've seen a decidedly once-over effort on the forum threads. But thanks for the 15 minutes of fame?

I do like how a donation of one's time and efforts on the forum is heckled more than appreciated.
