[Equinox] NISMO Lateral Stabilizers
I took off the rear NISMO lateral stabilizer than came on my car stock, trying to find the part number for Dustin@Z1motorsports, and I'm not sure if I got it. Dustin actually wants the front one, but I have yet to get up under the front end, so I figurte the back one will do for now. Here are some pictures for folks. Do you think that computer printed number is the part number? P/n: 554B2 1A34A K7DC9D20

It's a rear damper.
I'm confused. Are you trying to sell it? Or just taking it off to make way for your GTM exhaust?

nissan part numbers are normally two 5 digit groups, so I would guess the first 10 numbers are the nissan number.

HOLY CRAP buddy, I didnt mean for you to go to these extremes. I really appreciate! I am wanting to see what all the dampners incorporates and check out the hardware.
Mike is correct. Nissan part numbers are 10 digit groups, XXXXX-XXXXX. The first 5 are the prefix of the part and note the parts location on the vehicle. The prefix is the same for all parts no matter what vehicle that they are on. The 5 digit suffix is what changs depending on the model, part or vehicle. Thanks again Equinox! |

Hey Dustin, took the front stabilizer off the car while I was changing the Oil, sorry the part number picture is kinda crappy, but the part number was very easy to read:
544B2 1A34A K7DB9016 Held on with (4) 12mm bolts.

oh btw yellow paint pen ink means the bolt has a torque spec requirement, and that it was in fact torqued down in the factory to spec.

haha.. I found this via google.. about a damper on an STI.. I assume its the same thing.. "The Performance Damper is added to the trunk as a strut-tower bar and to the front underpinnings as a lower arm bar. This damper, developed jointly by STI and Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd, is designed to operate much like a strut bar inasmuch as it reduces expansion and contraction of the body where it is mounted. As for the damping feature, it begins attenuating expansion and contraction as soon as they begin. Because of this, oscillation of the body is greatly reduced and handling is improved during the moments following initial turn-in as well as during lane-change maneuvers. This causes the car to feel much more composed and adds to the quality handling feel of the car." Its actually more of a "streetable" item than a hardcore track nut option When you stiffen the chassis, you increase response since there's less flex absorbing energy that would otherwise be used to have the car change direction. However, that flex also adds a "fudge point" between when things happen. This means that the stiffer car will be less progressive in its behaviour. An ultra-stiff car will be very "snappy" at the limit, and there's not much in it between just below the limit of grip and just above. What is true for your suspension is also true for chassis bracing. What these dampers do is add a bit of fudge factor into the chassis, while not leaving it as weak as if no bracing was present at all. Consider it as the difference between ultra-stiff track coilovers, and softer street coilvers.

I spoke with Nissan Motorsports in regards to the Chassis Dampeners on the NISMO. They explained to me that it helped with the chassis harmonics .
The dampners were tuned to the car's "frequency" and factory suspension setup. They mentioned that if you adjust the suspension (i.e, Stiffer Sway Bars, Chassis Braces, coil over suspension), you have altered the vehicles "frequency" and could possible negate any of the benefits of the Chassis Dampners. Again this is what was explained to me by the guys at Nissan Motorsports. |
