To sway or not sway.... That is my question
Hello. Would anyone care to advice. I'm planning on lowering my car on Swifts Springs, keeping the euro-tuned shocks and adding the popular 20mmF/25mmR spacers to stock Rays 19.
... My question is this: would the handling improve considerably if I add just a front sway bar? What if I add both? Or Should I just leave the car with stocks sways and be good with this setup? |
To sway!!! One of the best mods I did to my car! I did both front and rear no other way to do it. Diff is night and day.

Rear bar really isn't necessary (mostly personal preference), but definitely do the front. I have Eibach front & rear and would go back to the stock rear bar if I wasn't so lazy. |
I have stillen front and rear sways. major difference in handling.

Whiteline front and rear.
Can I suggest if you are lowering your car with springs - get different shocks eg Koni. I found the OEM shocks were not suited for lowered springs and my ride quality was shocking and very squirrelly in the rear end when cornering on uneven/bumby roads. cheers |

it would depend the milage your oem shocks have done.

The forum consensus will be SWAY IT! Whiteline, seems to be the forum favorite. Good for street and track as long as you are on street tires. Hotchkis, is the stiffest in front. Seems to be a favorite of people using sticky track tires. Most people find the rear to be too stiff and revert to the stock rear bar. Eibach/Stillen for street with some track. ^^ This is my take away from reading a bunch of threads. Everyone's opinion will vary slightly and everyone will swear by one or the other, but that'll get you oriented in the right direction at least. Other than that... search button = your friend. |

Sways are probably one of the best bang for your buck mods you can do. Made a more noticeable difference then my KWV3s
|
I think they are overlooked because on a lot of other cars they aren't that big of a deal, but on the Z a big front bar is a huge improvement.

Im really into Suspension upgrades more than any other mod. I just love a good handling car. Ever since I improved a Honda Accord's handling back in the days, I fell in love with upgrading suspension components. Of course, the brands I used for the Honda were others. I was running, Omni-Power coilvovers, camber kit, Cusco tie bars and Comptech Sway bars. The car handled great and I was perfectly happy with just upgrading my suspension even tho the car stock engine was just a 200hp V6. Anyhow, the 370z power is more than enough for me and more than likely will not be upgrading the engine, drivetrain or anything else for that matter. Suspension is where my heart is at. |
