Default I need Help installing springs

So, my dad sent a set of Eibachs to my place, I had no clue... "GO DADS!" But live in a small extremely stingy town and no one will install them for me. I have access to a lift and a spring compressor but I have never done this before, any help will do. Thanks fellas!!!

Ok dreamin I will help you get started.

While your car is on the ground break loose the lugs for the front wheels

Raise the front and place jack stands under the car. (if you do not have jack stands or automotive jack then you can do one wheel at a time using the spare tire jack)

Pull the front wheels off.

Pop the hood on the car (while its still on the ground ) now while its up in the air open the hood and lock it open.

* Ok now you have two options * 1. start from the top OR 2. start from the bottom

Either way after taking the bolt out of the bottom of the coilover or the bolts off the top of the coilover... your going to need to remove the full coilover. (remember to make sure the brake line is not attached to the coilover when removing it)

After you have the coilover in your hands and off the car you need to have a spring compressor and compress the spring (this can be as simple as a $20 kit from sears or autozone)

Once the spring is compressed and there is no tension on the top hat you can unscrew what ever is holding the top hat on.

Slide the OEM spring off and slide the new ones on (slowly uncompress the OEMs and compress the new ones)

Re install the top hat and re install the coilover from the bottom first ( the easiest way to do this is to slide the top hat bolts at an angle into their holes and put the bottom into position. now with everything aligned install the bottom bolt and then install the top nuts. you may have to pull down on the hub to get the coilover to fit * please be careful doing this *)

******* OK now for the Rear ********

I would follow the same steps however this is a different type than my Lexus or S2000 so I am not too sure about the process completely.

I hope this helps

Mike

the rear is super simple. Unbolt one end of the lower control arm, swivel it down and pull the original spring out, then put the new one in and bolt back up.

Ok, the fronts are a little more complicated than what was posted.

you've got sensor lines along with the brake lines that you can't have attached to the coilover when it comes out. You will also need to remove the black bracket that is on the lower shock mount position, otherwise it is nearly impossible to get the coilover assembly out of the car.

also, when you are pulling the coilover out, mark the pillowmount and the shock for positioning before you pull the spring off, you will want to align everythign correctly when you reinstall. The front springs are nearly impossible to do with a simple spring compressor (you can't get them compressed enough with that setup), so I suggest bringing it to goodyear or something to have them swap the springs for you. I paid $45 to have mine swapped, well worth it and you don't need a compressor for the rear so that saves you the time of renting/buying one.

As was said above, the rears are simple. Pull the wheels off, unbolt one side of hte control arm with a jack supporting it, then lower the jack til the spring comes out and replace.

$45 ain't bad - that's what I'll do, rather than worry about it and have to pay more to buy tools that I'll use once.

45 bucks... I keep getting these crazy 150 dollars an hour bulls@&t lines. That's why I was looking at doing on base at the auto hobby shop. They have lifts and compressors and it's about 3 dollars an hour to use. But, I just called goodyear!!!!!!!!!!!LMAO

I'm sure the 45 was to just take the whole assembly, out of the car to the shop and have them swap them over. I paid about the same, as the eibachs are next to impossible to compress with the standard type of manual spring compressors.

If you are doing it at the hobby shop, should be no problem if they have a hydraulic spring compressor, which I'm sure they do. All the navy ones that I used to use when I was in had them. Plus, at the hobby shop you will have help and advice available should you need it.

Ya, that was me bringing just the coilovers to them and having them swap the springs.

If you have a hydraulic spring compressor you should be able to do it yourself no problem.
