Default Stock Brakes Question

I tried searching but with no answers, and hopefully this is the right section.

I recently traded my 07 Z Base to an 09 Z Touring w/ Sports Package and when cold (i.e. first start up) and backing out, the brakes make a whistling noise when applied and stops when released. Not a squeal or screech, but thinking of a person whistling really loud. After the car warms up (and brakes too), the brakes don't make any noise whatsoever.

Someone suggested that I apply wd-40, but isn't this a lubricant? I really didn't like this idea and wanted to ask for feedback on what I could do to make this whistle noise go away.

The moron who told you to use wd-40. I would stay away from. If he gives you any more ideas. Smack him upside the head with a baseball bat! I'll supply the bat. A 50 ozer.

How many miles are on the Z? Check to see how much pad you have left.

Although personally a big fan of WD 40... Unfortunately someone was messing with you. You could instead try putting Crisco on your brake pads, that would be pretty much the same affect, but might make them taste more like cookies.

i bought with 51K about 2 weeks ago. on my 350Z, i could check the pad life, but with the 370Z, the calipers are different than the non-sport package and can't see the pads.

You're going to have to lift the car, remove the wheels and remove the retainer and pins to get a view of the pads.

I have the same issue but only happens when car got rain on or it is cold out. It goes away in a heart beat though. Told by dealership it is normal.

My OEM pads had plenty of life left but started squealing around 30k mi (not sure if I somehow glazed the pads or something). I replaced them and squealing went away. You could try applying more brake parts lubricant (grease) to the shims and back of the pads and see if this helps. Luckily brake service on the Z with the akebono sport brakes is a cinch.

same with me, it only happens the first time i start the car after being parked overnight. but then if i go somewhere and park and start it back up again, with the car being already warmed up, the brakes don't make the noise.

someone suggested that about applying the lubricant on the shims, but honestly, i'm not familiar with the brakes aspect of my car

Is this MT? If so try parking overnight in gear and don't use the ebrake.
If AT just use Park no ebrake.

See if it makes the noise in the am.

Default Stock Brakes Question

Subscribed. My sport Z has 32k. Is this something that I can expect to see at 50k?

I checked the brake pads this morning and they are all brand new (and yes, I checked both the outside and inside brake pads), so I know for a fact that it's not because of the pads are getting low. I tried using CRC Brakleen (which btw, this stuff is awesome!) to see if was maybe debris. Clean brakes, but still with the whistling noise. So I'm thinking perhaps the dealership didn't apply the lubricant on the shims?
