Toe Adjustment w/ SPL Rear Camber Links
Experts,
I have been researching what I want to do about the rear camber links. Seems the consensus is that if you are going to see any track time, or hard driving, the SPL rears are the way to go. Done! I am sold. However, it seems you give up the ability to have additional adjustment of the rear toe with the SPL links. I am going with the KW V3 coilovers so I am not going with a "true coilover" and I am not inclined to drop $700+ on the SPL perches/mid links. I plan on dropping the car around 1" to 1.25" on Sport Rays w/ 25mm spacers FR/RR and a 275/305 RS3 tire combo. I don't plan on anything extreme in terms of camber 2* FR & RR What are my options? Will the stock toe adjustment be enough to get everything back in spec in the rear? |
Rear camber links don't have anything to do with toe. The toe is adjusted with the bolt on the spring arm, so you don't give up anything.
Mine adjusted fine with the SPL camber arms and BC ER coilovers lowered 1.5". |
Get toe bolts

OK, I am going to state this just to make 100% sure I am understanding correctly (not because I am a complete idiot... most of the time): The toe adjustment for SPC links comes from the toe bolts not the arms themselves. If I get toe bolts and do the elongation of the slots then I get the same ability to change toe with the SPL links. |

The SPL camber arm only adjusts camber. The arm that the rear spring is sitting in has an eccentric bolt that allows the adjustment of toe. Get toe bolts, elongate that hole, and you won't have any issue. Look at getting a lockout kit for the other bolt. All it does is puts a square washer where your factory camber adjustment is in order to prevent it from slipping and changing anything. |
Thanks!

with V3's at around an inch lower all around, your camber/toe wont get too out of wack. you can get away without having toe bolts. also, all aftermarket camber links will adjust your toe, although not directly. when dialing the camber back to positive, you will inadvertently adjust your toe as well. there's only so much camber adjustability you can do without affecting toe

I think if you need the aftermarket toe bolts to bring the toe within specs then they are one option. If it can be adjusted within spec with the stock adjustment bolt then the aftermarket bolt is a waste of time, effort, and money.
You won't know until you try. If they try and can't you'll have to bring it back after installation of the toe bolts. Whether it's worth the hassle is up to you. |
You "can' get your toe adjusted to factory spec without the use of the toe bolt with whatever amount the Swift springs drop (inch and a quarter maybe), however you will be running some negative camber that will wear the inside of your tire over time.
So there isn't any confusion, you cannot adjust toe separately with the camber arm. The toe adjustment will be a result of the camber adjustment made from the arm. |

Just trying to be helpful as I know you are also. :) |
I understand you can get toe within spec with the new toe bolts, but since toe and camber work interchangeably somewhat, Does getting the wider range spl camber arms ONLY allow manipulation of stock toe bolts to get within spec range for both toe and camber in rear?
